I hope they haven’t had enough - he could do with some more karmic smitingI think you’re right, they do need to feed Jokic inside. Playing from the arc goes right into the Warriors game. I thought that series would be 1-1 at this point.
Luka isn’t playing tonight. Unfortunately I think Mavs go down 1-2 after tonight. Untimely injury, but Luka has been stressing the basketball gods with his incessant whining, and the gods had enough.
Yes but we are doing this with 3 rookies...none of which were highly regarded or considered ready to contribute...being among our top 7 players in terms of minutes on the floorTo be fair, Zion has been out all season right? The Pelicans' coaches/players have had to prepare and create strategy all season with him absent from the lineup. The Suns just lost Booker after him making a significant contribution to them being the #1 seed.
I'm a Mavs fan and we lost Luka to injury in game 82. I haven't been as confident of the Mavs chances against Utah with him sitting on the bench. But he needs to sit if not 100%. His long term career is more important than this 1 playoff season.
Stat of the night
Team chemistry is a real thing. Timing and anticipation are such huge elements of winning teams. On the other hand, no other sport can be so moved by one dominant player. I don't know, maybe if you get up big in the 4th, or if you go up 3-1, try to incorporate some minutes. Because it would definitely be better to have an integrated, healthy Zion for later rounds (if not this one)
I agree. We had a discussion going on the Pels board about it and I'll say the same thing here. Bring him in off the bench for 10-15 minutes a game IF HE'S READY TO PLAY. Do NOT mess with the chemistry of the starting lineup. Hell, it seems to be working for the Warriors cuz Steph hasn't started a game in the series yet and they're up 3-0.So the Zion discussion. Many say he's good to go. His step-father has said he can play. I know someone who talks to him every now and then he (the person I know) thinks Zion is good to go.
But it's a huge question for Willie Green. The team is playing strong basketball and the chemistry that has developed is a really big part of that - and introducing a new element is very risky.
In this article from Barstool yesterday, he argues that with Booker going down, the Pelicans should seize the moment and put Zion in the lineup.
Agree or disagree.
The Pelicans Are SOFT If They Don't Unleash Zion Williamson With Devin Booker Potentially Out For Weeks

Obviously last years team was different, but it took Zion SEVERAL games to mesh with the team (and I’m not sure he and BI ever figured it out)So the Zion discussion. Many say he's good to go. And at this point, if it ain’t broke…
I had wondered if Pels were down 0-3 then maybe we’d see him, but I say keep him on the bench for now
And that’s the thing - you really don’t know if he’s ready to play until he plays - if I remember right, his defense was woeful last year, what chance is there that it’s better with so little time with the team?I agree. You’d get 2 things bringing him in at 0-3:Agree that 'if it ain't broke' is powerful here.
Couldn't one argue that being down 0-3 against the top seed in the conference makes the risk/reward unappealing on bringing him back?
