2023 offseason: WR Tet McMillan said its hard for him to watch film and doesn’t watch film by himself

Interesting you bring up Rattler. One of the reasons Rattler fell in the draft was because of comments he made as a teenager.
By all accounts Rattler was a bit of privileged brat growing up…and perhaps one can surmise that made him entitled/narcissistic and therefore he wouldn’t work as hard as if he would if he was more humble. But I can’t say objectively that Rattler was lazy.

McMillan’s comments suggest that 1) he was lazy, 2) he was not passionate about the game of football, 3) he had poor work ethic, 4) he had a learning disability, 5) he was immature, or some combination of above. You don’t make those comments unless that is objectively true. He could have changed since those comments but it’s at least a yellow flag bordering on red flag. As a person who works in academics it’s been my experience that grit and work ethic are developed before someone gets to college. The light switch doesn’t often just get flipped. There are outliers but as a McMillan fan I’m a bit concerned.

Deion Sanders didn’t watch film either. Good thing neither of them are QBs
Deion is probably one of the five greatest athletes in the history of sports…and he played CB and returner…positions that rely on athleticism and instincts. WR is a position reliant on the ability to carry out plays, so it does require more work ethic. One of the gripes on McMillon is that he isn’t a great route runner. That takes actual practice and preparation. And McMillon isn’t an all-time great talent…he’s going to need to work at the next level to be a starter.

NFL CBs absolutely have to watch film. That’s how Tracy Porter picked off Manning in the SB. Don’t give me that bull-junk :hihi:

This could potentially be huge red flags in not studying opposing pro coverage and inability to learn his pro offensive scheme. Particularly in being on the same page with his QB on consistently running the correct route.

He clearly is not interested in the interview hes eating a salad lmao. Strike up the band TET MCMILLAN COME ON DOWN

lol touché. I think Sanders undersold his preparation. Dude is a huge competitor…he did what it was required to be one of the all-time greats. But a WR does require more week to week prep than a man-to-man CB

You got that right. I remember when fans didn't want JERRY RICE because he only ran 4.71. Well we all know how that turned out. Or T. Brady only being a 7th round pick. It's ridiculous how some people judge others. Who really knows; this kid may turn out to be SPECIAL. But of course we'll look for the SURE THING LIKE RICKY WILLIAMS.
To add to your point (and add a little lightheartedness to what is just a downer of a thread), remember when this very forum was underwhelmed at the prospect of an injured QB that a team had just spent a first overall to replace the offseason prior? Or the head coach hire who was so bad as an OC in New York that his playcalling duties had been taken away? Unless it's criminal behavior or a suspiciously high number of injuries, I tend to take things with a grain of salt.

A lot of people in this thread would be Tom Smykowski's customers for the Jump To Conclusions Mat™

Actually I’m out because I do think he’s the top receiver in this draft class but he would have been well behind last years group. I want a player at 9 that is a legit top 10 player, not a guy who’s there due to lack of competition at his position. Give me Warren, Barron or trade down.

I was listening to Sumer Sports draft coverage this morning and they were talking about Tet. They gave some good insight that tracks with this discussion and that 33rd Team article I posted in the other thread.

They said, he's likely not a WR1, more like a high WR2 or low WR1. They talked about how he doesn't help a QB before the ball is thrown, calling out his route running and low success rate on the 9 route. They said he's more of a weapon after he catches the ball, and his film shows that.

They complimented him on his movement for his size b/c he moves like a 6' guy and his other sports experience is evident.

Tweeterboy MrOptimistic found 21 seconds of 2-yr old video of Tet munching dinner and half-heartedly being on some local yokel podcast, saying nah, I aint watch the films.

Although that may be accurate for some posters….SR consists of many posters with varying opinions.
I wouldn’t draft the guy in the 1st and I’ve said that before.
