Aaron Rodgers: Enigma (4 Viewers)

everyone has an opinion, right or wrong, we all have a right to have a different opinion on things.

like his darkness retreat and the ayahuasca retreat thing

not my style, but cant hate him for it. he believes in it and did it,more power to him. i watched that part and is what it is, doesnt make me wanna go try it or get all spiritual and stuff
I think all driven people have a 'thing' - some sort of activity or idea that gets and keeps them focused
many athletes use religion, some meditation. some faux victimization/underdog mentality, et al
as long as the output is positive - cool go for it
(but if some CEO uses a focusing technique to quiet their jimminy cricket and sociopathically destroy people and nature - less cool)

the problem is when an athlete (entertainer, business person, whatever) says hey this is the way to do things so you should follow my lead (not saying that's what AR is doing)

also since 'trolling' is one of the main rots in our culture, i'm disinclined to be too casual about it

I think I know what you mean but he isn't stupid. He "knows" things which made him very good on Jeopardy which was a surprise to me. Now, is he a "thinking" man? I guess that's what I don't know.

he craves something- which causes him to constantly question/think.

Talks about it- religion- brought up strict Christian, but as he got older began to question it. Searching for something but i dont think he even knows what he searching for. He says inner peace, but i think he will never truly be at "peace" because his very nature is to question almost everything.

Emotionally stunted too. Readily admits to it as well. Product of his childhood. Said he saw his dad cry once in his entire life. Was not allowed to show pain.

Very hurt by no D1 schools wanting him. Then no NFL team ( 49ers was his dream they took Alex Smith, Gruden said "if you there when we pick you are our guy" - they went with Cadillac Williams RB ) and didnt have the tools to know how to deal with.

Pretty wild stuff when you start to compile

Brett Favre learned the hard way what happens when you stay around too long. Aaron is learning the hard way now. as do many other good QBs...

Brett was an arse to Rodgers

they meet up in ep 3- and Brett is quite uncomfortable admitting he was an arse.

No greater arse than Brett imo. The ego outgrew the man long ago and hasnt shrunk one bit.

Coming from someone that grew up in the Jehovah’s Witness cult. I can see how religion negatively affected him.

It still affects me to this day. I just don’t feel the urge to find something spiritual like he does.

Had a bunch of JWs knock on my door awhile ago. Normally when someone tries to proselytize me I say something like, "Already found God, thanks" and cut them off. But I had been deep diving on cults so my curiosity was up and I gave them a chance -- before shutting the door on them -- to speak. I wish I could remember what they asked me; but it was something about God, I think, and I know my answer was "real" meaning it was expressing how I felt. Well, the guy answers back, "No, that's not right." Wrong answer, dude. I'm not going to further engage in any discussion after you tell me I'm not right. There's no common ground to start on (not that he was ever going to sway me because I had already heard past JWs speak about their experience, but I would have had a conversation). I couldn't shut the door fast enough.

Oh yea. U follow their beliefs from their organization that they create. It’s not from the Bible. If not. You’re wrong.

This could be a whole different thread. At threat of threadjacking my own thread lol

If u can find that episode to stream it’s very interesting and very true about the cult.

Oh, yeah, I've seen that. I was thinking about you tube videos I had seen of JWs talking about it, but I definitely saw when Scientology and the Aftermath did that episode. By the way, Mike Rinder recently died.

He's a dumb person's idea of what a smart person is.
He's definitely smarter than average but he's no genius. He's that obnoxious contrarian level of smart that backs into their parking spot because "it's the best way."

I have no doubt he came in too hot with his family when he started to doubt his religious upbringing, leading to their falling out. So anti-establishment!! 😍
