Al qaeda is happy too! (1 Viewer)

That's right. Everybody ignore what Al-Qaeda is saying and focus instead on a one-line retort at the end of the post.

Very nice. Ignore the terrorist saying he's going to blow up the White House and focus on attacking the poster.

Good grief.

Hope you remembered to purge the crawfish.

DD,

When did you become such a stickler for dissecting the Al Queda messages?

If you read back through the messages over the years you find that they specifically state why they are waging jihad against us and under what circumstances the jihad will end.

They do offer a quite specific list of grievances, but no where in any of these messages do the mention that they hate us "because we are free."

But these excerpts of the messages are usually labled as "propaganda."

We are told to believe everything that they say they will do, but to discount completely the reasons for which they say they are doing it. "They hate you because you are free. Leave the rest to us..."

Sorry, it's not adding up. If you want to take them at the letter of their word, you have to take them at the letter of their word. You can't be selective about which parts of the message are the "truth."

I dunno, two presidents igonored embassy bombings, an attack on one of our warships, etc. Look where that got us.

Since when did I become a stickler for dissecting Al-Qaeda messages? Since September 11, 2001, Blackadder.

i think most americans knew thay wanted to "blow up the white house" years ago - they dont like us and want us all dead, we know this - nothing new here, this isnt a new stance by these people or for that matter other groups around the world

but most americans want to go with a plan that works, not the one we are using now

No, what's new here is Al-Qaeda openly cheerleading for a U.S. political party.

Can you really say ignored?

Failed? There was an OBL unit set up in the CIA. A counter terrorism czar.

A failed attack was lauched against OBL, for which the President who launched it was attacked by the political opposition for "exaggerating a threat" and playing "wag the dog."

I would say failed. Not ignored.

And, again, you want to be selective. In the long run you will have to address the specifically stated grievances if you want the problem to go away. If you don't we will have our Orwellian war without end.

>>We've already had that. It was called the Carter administration and the 95th Congress.

If you'd research your history, the Carter Administration was the closest thing we've had to actual conservatism (the way "true conservatives" talk about things) in the last (at least) 60 or 70 years. The then Democratic congress (pretty much hard-left by today's terms) didn't like President Carter, deregulation or any of that stuff.

You could have made a better argument had you used 1993, 1994 as a benchmark. ;)

FWIW, the fried calamari po-boy was excellent as was the company. But as Ted Kennedy screamed in 1988, "Where was George", I gotta quasi-mimick, "Where was Dads?"

Thread title: Al qaeda is happy too!

They are. Four different news organizations said so.

I'm not being selective and the topic is not getting steered to my objectivity or lack thereof.

Al-Qaeda is happy.

You're saying they're not?

Nobody's attacking the poster--just the premise of the post.

Many are attacking this stupid, partisan garbage of connecting the Democratic Party with Al-Queda, as if it actually had some basis in reality.

One. More. Time.

Everybody on this message board acknowledges the threats which Al-Queda and the terrorists pose--most know they want to blow up the White House. We believe that part.

What we don't believe is that they're actually "happy" the Democrats won. What's this message mean?

To the partisans, (which was the basis of the post) it means that somehow Democrats and terrorists have some sort of commonality.

It's a bunch of baloney and you know it. Who cares of Al-Queada and terrorists are cheerleaders for one party? You actually believe they all of a sudden will throw down their arms and embrace the United States when or if the Democrats win control of the government.

SaintfaninAlex nailed it. Al-Queada wants us ALL dead--so connecting one political party with the other, which was what this thread IMPLIED is patently ridiculous.

In 1988? Hmmm...I was a senior instructor for the U.S. Army Quartermaster School's Advanced NCO Course. My specialty was Soviet Threat Doctrine, Platoon-Level Tactics and Property Book Accountability.

What were you doing in 1988?

No, what's new here is Al-Qaeda openly cheerleading for a U.S. political party.

but they really arent, they are anti bush, they didnt mention the reps at all, it appears they dont understand the two party system, or that many reps dont like bush either. - they also dont understand that the dems cant do alot to change the situation in iraq, other than cut funding - which they wont do.

if you want to take them literally and place full support and faith in what they say then:

Describing
"President Bush as "the most stupid president" in U.S. history, al-Masri reached out to the Muslim world and said his group was winning the war in Iraq faster than expected due to U.S. policies."

despite their poor grammer, they agree with many Bush is the stupidest president of all time and that "his group was winning the war in Iraq faster than expected due to U.S. policies" meaning that Bush, the reps, rummy and the administration as awhole are of beneft to the al queda - and by keeping them all in office is the last thing americans should do. which is why they want the "present course" to continue - cause we are being beat under this administrations way of thinking

Again... let's say we take Al Qaeda at their word and they're happy the Dems won. The real question is "so what", and "what would you propose be done"?

Thank you for finally using the correct verb.

The premise of the post, Al qaeda is happy too! was merely the lead-in to a newly-released Al-Queda tape.

The tape showed Al-Queda is clearly pleased with the U.S. election results and restated various themes which were used by the Democratic Party and the far-Left netroots folks.

"...Bush is the most stupid American president..."

Gee, where have we heard that before?

In no way to I wish to imply that anyone who voted Democrat is wrong or in some way un-American.

>>What were you doing in 1988?

I can't remember. heh. Regardless, if Ted can drive down from Baton Rouge (realizing he's got a top down Ferarri), surely you could have driven the extra hour and made it too. The po-boy daily specials were slow roasted duck, paneed rabbit and fried green tomato with shrimp remoulade. You shoulda been there.
