Amazon Prime increasing rates (1 Viewer)

Well, for the longest time, I had prime just for shipping. The other stuff were always extras for me. I've only used prime TV for a handful of shows like Jack Reacher. There's still some value with Amazon shopping and shipping, but it's not nearly the value it used to be because other companies have caught on. Amazon doesn't always have the best prices, and with everyone doing either free shipping, or free with a minimum purchase, Amazon loses that advantage. I'm getting close to cutting them entirely myself.

My wife still orders a lot off of Amazon so the free shipping actually still has value. We'll see.
I think you can still get free shipping over like $50 too, so really if you can wait you’re fine.

Though when my little extension/grabber broke yesterday, it was nice to have free overnight to replace it. It’s enough of a pain to be non weight bearing, not having that for 2+ days would make it that much worse.

Right now, Disney is the only one I consider a must have since my son watches it all the time. I switch between Paramount and Netflix based on when a new Star Trek series is running. Hulu, Max, Peacock aren't even on my radar. AppleTV comes with the Apple One bundle that I primarily use for music, news, and iCloud storage. Really the only thing I've watched on it are the Foundation and Monarch series.

It's probably time to look whether I should keep or kill Amazon. The shipping has been getting more unreliable and I don't care at all about Prime Video. I barely use it.

Both my kids are gone to college and we have Disney......and never use it. Not that my teenagers ever used it in high school either. Freely admit it was me for The Mandalorian. It is on the chopping block now though

We have Max through my son (college student), Netflix and Amazon. Hulu, Peacock and AppleTV are not a thought for us and I'm starting to get a little disgruntled with Amazon Prime. The whole ad's thing for more money p****s me off. Had the Amazon Music Unlimited until it started saying I wasn't logged on, had to sign up even though I was signed up. So, I cancelled Amazon Music, went with Spotify, for three dollars a month less I might add and now Prime may be going bye-bye.

I wonder what percentage of users pay for monthly service and don't use it even once? And do this for many months? I'm sure these services absolutely love that.

In the "olden' times" it was cheap enough to set it and forget it. But the prices increase (seems like year after year now) prices will keep going up unless/until enough people start dropping service.

The services try to do sneaky things, like offer a discounted annual plan. People who pay month to month tend to pay a higher price.

They will keep pushing until they find the edge of their value. Personally I'd love to drop them but when I bring it up my wife doesn't want to hear it haha. I guess she uses more of the services than I do which isn't hard because I don't use any of them.
