Annual SaintsReport Home Game (Edit - Dec.2nd vs. Tampa - OFFICIAL) (2 Viewers)

No turkey

Is that Thanksgiving weekend?
Nope. I already checked it out. Besides, the Bayou Classic will be on the Turkey weekend already. It would be a real pain to find hotel rooms that weekend, so the 2nd works out well. Make sure we have lots to do that weekend, since I have to work the game and I want to meet all of y'all at some point.

Oh, thats all right, then I guess. I will just have to take a couple of days off of school, then. Just have to make sure I don't get the stomach flu that always seems to come around that time of year so I have the days to take off.

Booked it.

Hilton Garden Inn New Orleans French Quarter/CBD 821 Gravier Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, United States 70112

Don't know if the place is very good or not. Researched on the web and that is where wifey wants to stay.

Any suggestions on a good place to stay?

I don't want to stay somewhere that is inconvenient or a dive.

We're thinking of flying in on Friday night and leaving Wednesday morning.

Would one need to bring clubs to golf or are they available to rent?

I usually go to hotwire, select 4-Star Downtown (Customer Favorite) and almost always get Intercontinental, the W, or the Sheraton (all very nice). Only it is usually like $79 to $85 plus tax. This year, it is tough to find that deal other than for the Monday night home opener. It shows as $139 plus tax per night for Nov 30th thru Dec. 2. While still a deal considering, not the bargain I was hoping for.

I researched for a while and wasn't finding any bargains until I ended up going to hiltonhonors.com and found a great deal for the Hilton Garden Inn French Quarter (for $79.00 per night plus tax) for Nov 30 thru Dec. 2nd and booked that one. Actually, I took the Evolution room for $89. Very nice hotel in the Quarter.

There is a 3-star in the French Quarter listed on hotwire at $59 per night, but I have no idea which hotel you might get. My guesses based on the regular price of $119 would be either the Prince Conti, Place D Armes or the Hotel St. Marie. You might want to look at tripadvisor.com and check ratings and feedback on these.

There is a 3.5 star French Quarter listed on Hotwire for $116 which is often the Chateau Sonesta which is pretty nice.

There is also a 3-Star downtown at $99 which is often the Pelham which is by the River Walk and Casino.

I don't know what you are looking to spend, but the 4.5 star Downtown listed at $222 is almost always LaPavillon.

The 4 star French Quarter listed at $202 is most often the Hotel Monteleone.

If you want a balcony on Bourbon, Call the Royal Sonesta. Just be prepared to pay big $$ in the $270+ for a side street balcony and higher for a balcony overlooking Bourbon.

I just noticed that at hotels.com you can book the Ritz Carlton for $169 per night and the adjacent Iberville Suites for $109. I haven't stayed in either but they are listed as 4.5 and 4-star hotels and they are both located on Canal right near the entrance to Bourbon. And we are talking about Ritz-Carlton here, so how bad could it be? If you are a AAA member and go to AAA.com, the Iberville Suites hotel (renovated last year) is only $99 per night there.

As for the golf clubs, that's completely up to you. Normally you can rent them, but it's like a box of chocolates... :)

LOL! I should have read page two.

Good choice! :tup2:

You'll be really happy with it.

Thanks Andrus. We had already booked the same hotel this morning. The wife has the hiltonhonors thing and wanted to use it.

We'll see you there.

I hope.

Yeah, I have Hilton Honors also, but the hotels in New Orleans sure eat up an inordinate amount of points, so I just booked it with a CC.

Dec. 2nd vs. Tampa is official.

Originally, I wanted to do the Rams game on Nov. 11th to watch the Saints beat up on Haslett and Venturi's defense, but there is a real-estate convention in town and many of the better hotels are already booked up for that one.

There won't be any group ticket purchasing, we will all be on our own in that regard, but we will have a crawl and golf outing. Maybe we can check into a repeat of the Rock & Bowl party, which was terrific.

Anyway, it's all in the planning stages, but you can go ahead and book your rooms in advance. :)

Andrus

Awesome , Looking forward to some golf and hopefully this year I can make the Rock and Bowl if we do that. Will have to start looking around for a ticket.

From the "It's never too early to start making plans" department...

Is it even possible any longer to get tickets for groups of fans who are not season ticket recipients?

If so...

Has there been any discussions about which Saints home game will be chosen for the annual gathering of SaintsReport.com loyalists?

Since so many in the past have come from out of town for the weekend festivities (including the golf tourney), might it be a good idea to see what kind of arrangements are possible and what games are most desirable for any who may be able to attend?

Just thinkling ahead...
I'll try to make it. I feel it's incumbent on me to come try to help you defend your title. :D Not sure I'll be able to get tickets though. We'll see what happens.

That game should have playoff implications, which is an added bonus for the selection of the date.

This far out, you may not get much of a discount from some of the 4 stars yet. But playing the waitng game with them can cost you getting any room at all.
