After a few views of that odd leap from Dereck Carr on the play where he hurt/broke? his hand and face planted into a semi concussion.......I began to see just how unnecessary and frankly, unaware that sequence of events was. IF, mighty big IF here; DC had put his shoulder down, followed the block of whoever was there and rammed ahead for yardage? He not only gets the first but acts like a real footballer and uses his momentum and a blocker for the yardage~!

If he "thought" he was going Full Taysom on that play? Well, that's a FAIL~! Taysom would have bulled his way and NOT gone airborne where few things good come of those plays~! Heck, We've seen Reggie go airborne but only when he was hurdling a would be tackler or leaping into the End Zone but even then on rare occasions.

I hope Carr reviews this play and bows up enough to KNOW he could have made a football move to use his pads and helmet to protect a solid hit to move forward~! That leaping stuff just isn't something someone as non-athletic as Carr should have tried and now? He's really screwed us going forward without him, YET? Who knows? Just maybe Heaner (sp?) or even Rattler can pull themselves together enough to become a Purdy or Williams of Stroud or Burrows or one of those great QBs who start right away and make the TEAM better??? Let's WIN OUT to make the whole scenario more interesting~!
Best to Derek Carr's recovery and I haven't even heard of DiNuccio or whoever........He just may be the answer , but I surely doubt that~!

Good God. The guy busted his arse for the team but it's still not good enough. In a split second he didn't make the perfect decision. For his sake I hope he moves on to a fan base that will at least be fair with him. This is ridiculous.

I wonder why Olave hit the ground with his head like that.

I wonder why Drew hit Aaron Donald with his hand like that.

I wonder wonder who, ooh ooh ooh, who; who wrote the book of love.

These types of people are in every fan base brother

Stupid decision but he did what he thought was the right decision. Same thing when people run or hit incorrectly and injured themselves. Things happened . Carr is more athletic than you give him credit for.

Anyone else question why did Carr leap?

Yes, many did. It's all right here.

LOL, What BLOCK??? There were 3 defenders closing in on him next to the sideline. 24 was about to push him out 4 yds away from the 1st down. All Austin was doing was standing his man up not pushing him out of the way. There was NO block to follow
When DC started his jump he was 4yds away from the 1st. And guess what he DID get the 1st just the idiot officiating crew messed up again . Have a look

He would ave had to try and split 2 defenders and plow through Austin.
If you look at the play again you'll see it could have been Austin rising up that lifted DC higher making his fall worse

He could have just gone down. Reaction: Carr is soft; bench him (of course, with no thought about the alternative)

Or, he could have tried to get the first down and failed. Reaction: What a stupid, risky decision. Bench him (of course, now we find out about the alternative).

The Carr haters got their wish. And many of them will be clamoring to draft one of the variety of the mediocre QBs available in the upcoming draft.

Build the supporting cast. The next good QB is not appearing soon. The best scenario is to stick with Carr until a good QB draft or the sudden emergence of one of the youngsters.

Pearl clutching aside, this happens with mediocre teams and it’s why we struggle defensively in the 4th quarter
Teams with no margin for error have players who will push just a bit too much
They sense they need a big play (big stop, big first down) to secure the narrow win or reclaim momentum
They push just a bit too much
I’m pretty sure our tackling woes come from players abandoning their technique or trusting teammates and instead try to hero ball the tackle
More than likely Carr felt the win slipping away (during a game he knew he didn’t play well) and he was looking for that inspirational moment

He didn’t get it (unless that’s what inspired Breese to block that fg)

You're right. We've become just like any other fanbase. I remember a time when we were, or I just thought we were, better.

Our fans got pretty awful in 2020, for a variety of reasons......but namely, the whining about Drew Brees.

"B-b-b-b-b-bbut the deep ball !!!!", said fans who apparently didn't watch the 2015 version of Peyton Manning win a title. There's a reason we haven't been to the playoffs since Drew, injured and weakened as he may have been, was leading the charge. People always talk about the what-ifs of 2011........but for me, I legit think if we could have finished that drive late in the 3rd quarter with a TD to go up 14 instead of the Jared Cook fumble......then we somehow hang on, and have a possibility of finishing out that same run that the Bucs did. Both the Packers and Chiefs seemed ripe for the picking at those points. And as far as I'm concerned, we had the best player in the NFL at that point in Alvin Kamara.

But, on a brighter note........18 years ago yesterday is when Bobby Hebert coined the "Who Dat Nation" phrase, after the Saints destroyed the Cowboys 42-17 in Texas Stadium. He brought that up the other day after the Giants game, and I've heard him tell that story a few times before. And I do still think our live-attendance fanbase is still pretty awesome......which is something I've been told from numerous visitors to the Dome who said they loved being around Saints fans. Every time I went to the Dome, I always made sure to interact with some members of the opposing fanbase, and gauge their experiences.

We probably have Carr for one more season, at least, as I don't see Carson Beck or Quinn Ewers as having great, NFL-READY transition intangibles to quickly or gradually evolve into good NFL starters. Regrettably, I do see some scenarios where maybe a few desperate NFL teams and GM's looking to rapidly reboot a 3-4 year process into just a 1-2 years and take a chance on either Beck or Ewers. They'll make a similar mistake the Panthers did choosing Bryce Young over C.J. Stroud (even though former Panthers HC Frank Reich and most of the team wanted Stroud, ultimately, their idiot owner David Tepper's opinion won out and that disaster of a pick occured.)

Let's see how Carr does with hopefully a younger, fresher, more motivated HC who can focus entirely on rebuilding and reinforcing our supporting cast. Build up and bulk up on the trenches on both sides of the ball.

To be fair, we've had two 9-8 winning seasons since Drew's last season in 2020 and in the case of Sean's last season in 2021, after we literally cloberred Atlanta on the road to finish 9-8, we briefly were in the #7 seed and looked to be on our way to a playoff berth until L.A. Rams blew like a 2 TD lead in the 4th quarter vs. 49ers and ended up costing us the final NFC seed (although I can't remember to who (Seattle?). I know many Saints fans would also prefer a post-season berth (and I'm one of them) but I'm one of those Saints fans that does view a winning season as a sign of real, demonstrative progress, team growth and enjoys when we finish a season with more wins then losses.

So, we have come amazingly close to making the post-season two out of the past 3 seasons even if close doesn't really mean anything significant or really count. We also came very close to making the playoffs in 1982, 83, 1988-89 and 2004, and awards aren't given out for narrowly missing the playoffs.
