Anyone still concerned about Bree's shoulder and arm strength? (1 Viewer)

Sure. I can tell you some people who are concerned about Brees' throwing arm: the Steelers, the Bengals, the Falcons, the 49ers, the Redskins, the Cowboys, the Giants, and the Panthers.

Well, atleast we don't have Hugh Culverhouse as the owner. So, I'd have to say that it's looking promising that there is a possibilty that the Saints may discuss the chances of picking up Brees's option.

LOL, if they didnt that would be a head scratcher.

LOL!!!!! You're right. There are some that are concerned.

The deep threat, physical attributes, and health were among reasons I was hollerin for Rivers or Cutler. I've progressed towards accepting Brees. I'm sure he's thrilled..

I said it at the beginning of the season and got railed for it, the guy you saw in the first 2 games was not Drew Brees, that was like 60% Drew. I said he needed a couple of more weeks. Fortunately the Oline protected him so he didn't get that shoulder hit and was able to heal while playing. Now you are seeing what the guy can do. I'm amazed at how his dedication has caused him to come back from that injury. He's got to be the year's best story, followed closely by Colston.

These last two games the guy has thrown some darts deep...and pretty much hit the bulleyes on all of them.

You can see a big difference between earlier in the season and now. His confidence is there and that could be dangerous for other teams.(see Tampa)

The one short throw to Colston on the sideline this last game...
The one where Colston was on the sideline and reached over the head of the defender for a short/medium gain was a perfect throw. I couldn't believe how incredible that throw was. It wasn't the hardest thrown ball, but it was 99% accurate. He could put the ball on a dime from 15 yards away.

I was thrilled from the beginning that we got Brees. I had my doubts cause of the shoulder, but seeing how good he has recovered and how Culpepper hasn't, makes it all the better.

He has been freakishly accurate at almost any on the field. Good velocity and good reads.

I haven't seen this much pump fakes in a long time. He's using the pump fake very effectively. That, and the play actionhas proven very fruitful. We could possibly put in a few delayed handoff's. Once the OL has everyone accounted for, gently snuggle the ball into Duece/Reggie's 6 pack abs. That could produce some nice runs especially if the DB's and other coverage players are lured out of the running lanes.

It seems like in the past, that we could never execute this play. I for one would love it. We could run either a delay handoff, or fake a delay and throw a quick ball to a WR, maybe a screen type play. If we fake to Reggie, its likely to freeze 9 of the 11 defenders like on the bush/henderson reverse.

I wasn't overly thrilled with the Brees signing at first, but I watched some of his play from 2004-05 and liked what I saw. Still didn't know what to expect with the injury and all, but he's been all I thought he'd be and more. Right now I'd tag him as a top 5 QB in the NFL.

Put in one of the Manning brother type delays that originated with Warner and the Lambs. A fake throw then handoff to Duece or Bush would be rather effective I think. Put in a couple WR screens and it should make a WIDE OPEN field.

I've had a HS football coach friend of mine telling me all season that Brees was a bad pickup because of the shoulder issues, etc. I told him to just wait, Brees would be fine.

Well, as if I (or anyone else) needed any more convincing (I didn't), that second TD he threw to Devery showed plenty about where Brees' arm strength is at.

My friend has now admitted the error of his ways, and of course, I'm not going to let him forget about it for a long time to come.
