Anything Over 6 or 7 wins with Winston at Qb would be considered a win (1 Viewer)

You got weak sauce. JW has the tools, coaches, and team to play like a first rd, franchise QB. Will you be happy if JW proves you wrong and plays well for a winning Saints team?

I predict the real answer for you is “no.” You and some other cats are making it clear you would rather JW fail and the Saints begin a rebuild, than have Winston be the new face of the franchise (in the context the QBs are always considered the face of the franchise).

I feel like we have seen this play out before.

I really hope he proves me wrong, but once again. All I can go by is what’s on film. How many qbs come into the Nfl with Big Arms (tools) as you say? Hell if anything, those of us who aren’t on the Winston train don’t want a rebuild. We are built to win now and that’s why we feel like we deserve better. Hell the mayor even created an entire video with just a rumor of Russell Wilson coming here. We will be a middle of the road team with Winston. We want another super bowl. We need to go after Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson. If we win 8 games this year with Winston as a starter.I’ll actually be happy and he would have surpassed my expectations. So I’m hoping for Atleast 8 wins with him as our qb.

I don't know what you mean by this, but if you are implying Teddy lost his job to Darnold, you are even more proving my optimism.

So we went 5-0 with a guy who lost his starting job? Even better right?
Don’t be fooled by that. That was all game management by coach Payton and the defense jumped into the top 3 defensive ratings whenever Brees went down the last 2 years.

Training camp is going to start in less than two weeks. People crying doom
and gloom about the prospect of JW or TH starting when they have seen neither of them in a CSP offense designed for them are being drama mamas in my opinion.

I think Winston will be good and Hill would be serviceable, but not as good as Winston, but I trust Payton to not field a team with substandard QB play.

Some of you guys act like Payton was just along for the ride while Drew alone averaged 10 wins a season over the past 15 years.

I get being pessimistic as a Saints fan. I was alive for 18 years before the Saints even had a winning season, but I have never seen so many “Saints fans” dump on a player and team like you and others have been doing on JW, CSP, and this year’s team. You say you want Winston to prove you wrong, lol. I do not believe you.

I also know that he threw 7 interceptions over a 4 game period. This is what I pointed out. There is nothing absurd about this. You can read the reports around Tampa Bay around that time and Brady's frustrations with the offense. But then I can also point to how throwing shorter passes, having a semblance of a run game, and running play action can improve efficiency and can explain his year. But again, I should have been more specific about those interceptions.

So the argument is he was great the first half of the season. Then weeks 9 through 12 he switched to the horrible Arians system and threw 7 interceptions (3 of them against us because we had a good defense and his LT was a turnstile). Actually take our game out and he threw 8 tds and 4 ints in 3 games. But then then he dumped the Arians system and was great again the last 4 games of the season. I guess that’s the argument. I just don’t see it.

But over a 4 game span he did and reports were around him getting pissed with Arian's and the offense.
Yes, and? Here is an article from a Bucs beat writer than explains it. I didn't find the word "interception" in the article.
Look at the offense from the bye through the playoffs. This is all that I was saying.
Let's also look at the teams Tampa played from the bye through the playoffs.
You dive deeper into what could have contributed to it; others don't get that benefit. That's all I'm saying.
I am not talking about "others". I am debunking your claim that Brady threw picks left and right.

I'm done now..lol.
Yes, you are.

I would think with Taysom we should get 10 wins... so you are saying we are going to start a quarterback who will get fewer wins?

This is a loaded team. 6 or 7 wins would be total failure.

Not sure where people get the idea this is a loaded team. On offense we have a great WR and great RB. No TE or number 2WR, an unproven QB (no matter who gets the start) and an average O line.

D we have an aging DE and one that is always hurt, one great LB, and one great CB who may miss time and average safety’s. We are not loaded. We are average and if our QB stinks it up we will be terrible.

Funny how Teddy was a winning game manager in a CSP offense. Who will be Winston’s HC this year?

I’ll hang up and listen.

No way D plays a season like they did for Teddys 4 games. Not even close to the same D

Aaron Rodgers will be 38 by the end of this season and has $66 million remaining on his contract. How aggressive do you think the cash-strapped Saints should be in pursuing him?

Landing Wilson is very likely nothing but a pipe dream. He’s the face of the Seahawks and a bonafide NFL star in his prime. Hard to imagine that front office is letting an elite level QB and high character guy out of the door. If circumstances did get to a point where they’d part ways, the price would almost certainly be crippling, especially to a team already having to shed veteran contracts.

I’m not confident the long term answer is on the roster, but all four QBs are in a great place to compete and realize their full potential if they put in the work. Of them, Jameis has the advantage of a skill set that made him a #1 pick. He may never live up to the expectations many had for him, but there is undeniably a lot of talent there for Payton to work with.

Well, Winston is an upgrade from Teddy. AK and Murray are one of the best 1-2 punches in the league. MT is a top 10 WR. Saint OL is much better than the “average “ status you assign to it.

DL has a star and solid depth at DE. LB room has one pro-bowler. Safeties and nickel corners are solid. Latt is top 10 and there is no written report with sourcing that says he is for sure missing any games.

My speculative, but informed opinions are different from yours. It will be fun to revisit all of this through out camp and the season. At least you will be happy to be proven wrong, right?

We are in a post-Drew era now, so I doubt that whoever starts will get a pass on a losing season. Taysom or Jameis has one year to secure the job with at least 9 wins. Even then, questions about who we beat and when we beat them will be a part of the conversation.

a top ten offensive line isn’t average, but I do see your point. We aren’t nearly as good roster wise as we’ve been in recent years

The jury is still out on the O line. I think it’s very similar to WRs in the past. Brees made the people around him better including the O line. Let’s see how they do without his genius Pre snap. I can’t think of many O players that left the saints and got better.

You are as good as what you’ve put on tape. Everyone wants the saints to win, but it’s about being realistic also. Should I imagine that he is a prime drew Brees ? Since everyone keeps comparing his stats to Brees when he arrived to NO. My dark horse will be the qb from Notre dame, a big trade for Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson or Taysom with improved accuracy.

So its realistic for Taysom to have vastly improved accuracy but not for Jameis to improve in turnovers? And if 6-7 wins is realistic for a Heisman winner, National title winning, 5k yards in a season quarterback, then just what is a realistic goal for Taysom? I'd like to hear your logic after you say some ridiculous number like 10.

Nah, I think what you CHOOSE to do is go by what’s on film. There’s also lotsa stats available that show that Jameis is a fairly capable QB. For example: only recently, somebody posted that in his 5 yrs, Jameis had the best 3rd down conversation rate ( 43.6) in the entire NFL. His 20:1 TD:INT rate in the Red Zone was also one of, if not the best in the League. You could also compare n contrast the surrounding talent AND coaching that he has here vs TB.

We haven’t even started TC n a loong way from the season opener. If you want to be an optimist, things like this could offer signs of hope.

If you want to be objective, things like this should at least be considered.

But for whatever reason, if you simply jus don’t like the idea of Winston playing or starting here, that’s fine too. But for you, and those who agree with you, things like this will never ever matter to you.

I wish nuttn but the best for this years team, n hope WE have a great season!
