Kinda the same for me....except even getting the flu shot I still tend to get the flu about every other year. Definitely not unheard of because this years shot is based on last year's strain but I seem to have a knack for getting it. The other kicker....is I would consider myself almost reclusive these days. I don't get out in public a whole bunch. Must be gas station pump handles or something 😂. Our whole family gets the shot and they're in public far more than I am yet I'm the one that gets it. Just had it earlier this season.
Yeah, it's definitely hit/miss. I haven't had a flu shot in probably 20 years and have had the flu once during that time. I've gotten the Covid vax and a booster and recently the shingles vax. So far so good. Just a mild case of Covid once. I'd do it all again.

Nothing is perfect, but the vaccines do work for the most part.

My cousin got his flu shot and ended up with the flu. He felt so bad, he thought he had Covid. Doc told him, "you got the flu A shot but flu B is what's going around this year." Then what good is the flu shot if it isn't designed for this strain of flu? I get mine every year since I turned 50. I don't normally get the flu, maybe a mild case. I definitely don't want this year's version.

From a medical perspective, this is actually quite logical. If the majority of people are vaccinated against a particular strain of the flu, that strain will become less dominant, allowing other strains to circulate more easily. This means the vaccine was effective in preventing illness from the targeted strain.

Even if you weren’t vaccinated against the specific strain you contracted, your immune system would still have been activated by the vaccine. As a result, your illness is likely to be milder than if you were unvaccinated. Personally, I get the flu shot every year. While I may still get sick some years, I’ve avoided the pneumonia I used to develop when contracting the flu in years I skipped the vaccine, especially before the COVID-19 pandemic.

So if you get all vaccinations but one you're anti vac? I don't agree.
obviously you don't know who RFK is.
he LITERALLY started an anti vax 'non profit orginization' against vaccines, not just against covid vaccines. it was founded before Covid, so RFK is not anti-Covid vaccine, he is anti vax, period.

That's obviously why I asked the question. I don't know his views.

During a November 2019 measles epidemic that killed 80 children in Samoa, Kennedy wrote to the country's prime minister falsely claiming that the measles vaccine was probably causing the deaths. Scott Gottlieb, who was Trump's first FDA commissioner, said on CNBC on Nov. 29 that Kennedy "will cost lives in this country" if he undercuts vaccination.
Outbreaks of vaccine-preventable illness could be alarming, but would they be enough to boost vaccination again? Ernst of Voices for Vaccines isn't sure.

"We're already having outbreaks. It would take years before enough children died before people said, 'I guess measles is a bad thing,'" she said. "One kid won't be enough. The story they'll tell is, 'There was something wrong with that kid. It can't happen to my kid.'

its one thing to be anti vax for youreself, but when you are in a position to make decisions for the masses, that is not good. He will fight to make sure the gov't cannot promote any vaccines and that will affect insurance coverage of them. he's already starting the fight with the Flu vaccine and the Covid Vaccine, the rest will follow. it is detremental to this country if the gov't will not recommend and promote vaccines. i agree they should't be mandatory, but i do think childeren should be vaccinated to attend school. if anyone thinks thats unfair, its their choice to homeschool or find an alternative schooling.

If you got all of your other shots except the COVID shot because you think there’s something specific about the COVID shot that makes it problematic relative to other vaccines, then you’re maybe not “anti-vax,” but you are absolutely using the same misinformation as someone who is anti-vax to make your decision.

They’re not the same, but they’re kinda the same.

Exactly, you are also probably a target for the Middlebrook's of the world....

There has been a deliberate campaign for the last 40 years or so to undermine the idea of expertise and intellectualism. This is one facet of it... basically, because an expert isn't 100% right, 100% of the time, your aunt's hairdresser is just as reliable a source of information.

God help us all.

but what about the guy on Youtube who had a D in Science class every year? Or a Podcaster who was a comedian and an TV show host? those are the people who we should all get out scientific knowledge from..
