Arrow - Spoilers galore (1 Viewer)

I actually think they are doing a really good job with Arrow. It lost a little steam mid season but has really picked it back up. My only problem really is they are making him TOO much of a Batman clone. I know that's his role in the DCTVU complete with training almost every hero in the world, but he needs a little more of his own identity.

Yeah. I'd like to see him take a more hands-on role in training Laurel. She's been getting her butt kicked for most of this season it seems like because she only took some self-defense/cursory boxing classes from Wildcat. She doesn't need to be full-on ninja, but she should be more than a punching bag at this point if her friends know what she's doing and she knows their secrets. And I know that Arrow is basically TV Batman and Flash is "the fun one," but I'd like to see them take some joy in what they do. I was on board with what was happening last night; Ollie being outed, hideouts being burned, him sacrificing himself so that his crew would be safe and effectively removing whatever leverage Ra's had over him. They could've taken that and kind of revamped a little bit. Oliver could've gotten out of whatever criminal charges he was going to face (maybe by proving the existence of a copycat frame job), and afterwards they could've gotten a new base of operations, updated some costumes, lightened him up a little bit without the weight of a secret identity over his head (and you can't really threaten his loved ones except for Felicity, they can all take care of themselves). Then Roy stepped in.

I really don't see Arrow as a light show. Felicity provides what little levity there is but its really a darker show that focuses on the sacrifices of being a hero. I'm ok with that.

I actually like the way they are gradually bringing Laurel along and having her train with lots of people. She's getting better but they show steady improvement. I'm a sucker for gradual character development.

That sux I have Hulu also, but hate how they don't keep the whole season up at a time. You basically have to keep up within 5-6 episodes....Missing out on AoS season 2 because of this right now also....

I urge you to start Flash season 1 when you start Arrow season 3, and flip-flop between the shows/episodes (Flash 1, Arrow 1, Flash 2, Arrow 2, etc). If you watch Flash season 1 now, it may spoil certain plot points in Arrow.

Awesome tip. I would have started Flash tonight without this. I want to get the full effect of these series. ;) Thanks man!

No prob! One of the later season 2 Arrow episodes serves as sort of a "soft pilot" for the Flash series.

What they have done, in general, with Laurel has been pretty good. For two plus seasons, she was easily the most annoying character on the the show. They slowly developed her into being likeable.

My only major problem with her now is how she is able to hold her own against members of the League of Assassins. (That's more of a writing problem and not the actress)

..........for what? maybe a week?

It's been at least 3 episodes since they first bonded, and I would say more than a week passes between some episodes. I have no problem with Laurel holding her own against henchmen. It's not like she is beating up Ra's or Maseo. She got training from her policeman dad, training from Ted Grant, and now Nyssa. That's more than we know of what Roy has gotten.

I know it sounds corny, but anyone think that maybe Nyssa will want to bond more with Laurel than just training? She just has that look about her...

Or am I just being a weird pervert? :hihi:

Versus the assassins who have been training for years...

Sometimes I think about them training together and I want to do some training myself.
