Arrow - Spoilers galore (1 Viewer)

Another solid episode. Liking this version of Slade. I can't believe they are running a new episode on Thanksgiving night...

Yeah, that's surprising. Works for me though. I plan on staying home black Friday anyways, so football Thursday and dvr and other stuff Friday.

So, I've found this season pretty "blah" for the most part. Not as bad as season 3 or 4. Not as good as season 5. But, the payoff tonight was pretty good, IMO. I just hope the show returns strong from the break.

Yeah, I think this season has been mostly just mediocre, though not awful, with the occasional highlight (the Diggle fight in the limo, the Oliver heroics with Felicity’s speech to William laid over it, etc.) I did like tonight’s episode and hope the new direction for the season picks things up a bit.

But man, they are losing me with the new team/splinter group. I find those 3 to be the most hypocritical, annoying and foolish characters on tv. Everything they do is stupid and selfish, but they act so smug and superior, insulting and blaming Oliver for everything (even when he had nothing to do with it or was right about the situation). They really need to do some course correction with that group, or at least have the show make it clear that what they’re doing is wrong.

I don’t mind that they splintered off, I hate that they are constantly whining and insulting to Oliver when he was right to suspect them in the first place. They are always talking like Oliver betrayed their trust when it was Wild Dog who literally betrayed Oliver.

The new group chose to go after Dinah’s boyfriend (with a healing factor) instead of a bomb that would kill hundreds of people. Oliver also correctly identified this as a trap but when it doesn’t go their way, and the villains get away with the bomb, they expect he and Diggle to apologize to them. The new team were the ones clearly in the wrong there and could have gotten tons of people killed.

And last night Wild Dog says something like “every time we go with Oliver we end up in a deadly situation”. He says it in an accusatory way. But they were the ones who willingly joined him in going on dangerous vigilante missions, so what did they expect? Not to mention the fact that Wild Dog was doing that stuff anyway before he even met team Arrow.

It drives me crazy how terrible and hypocritical they all are while the show’s tone seems like it’s giving them a pass.

Well, there's Felicity. Eye candy...yes...irritating as ever...and yes. The whole John/Arrow exchange was cringeworthy imo. It was just a weird exchange. But John pairing up with ARGUS could be an interesting angle.

The Curtis/boyfriend thing just needs to go away. It's goofy and doesn't do anything for the show.

Up and down season. But, really liked that finale. The Ollie/Lance and Sara/Laurel 2 moments were good.

Yeah, they are doing A LOT of tap dancing around Batman on these shows. If they won’t/can’t use him, fine, I get that. But at this point they have used (or at least referenced) most of the characters and locations around Batman, including Gotham, Bruce Wayne and a “dark knight”.

I thought there was a lot of good stuff in the finale. I’m still not totally sure why the FBI was willing to let a major (I assume) American city be taken over by a mobster/terrorist unless Oliver turned himself in, especially when everyone else was easily granted immunity.

I really liked Oliver’s 1-on-1 scenes with people in the finale, especially the one with (mayor) Lance.

I personally hope they don’t retcon Oliver publicly declaring himself as the Green Arrow. So many people already know, and he has rallied the entire city to stand & fight with him twice before, I think it’s time to drop the secret identity. “Will his secret get out?” has been used as a plot device so much, I’m kind of relieved if we are moving past it.

Agree that the middle of the season was pretty dumb. It felt like a lot of filler.

I believe I said earlier in the thread that Ollie needed to have his, "I'm Iron Man" moment. This should not be retconned. They have gone to that well far too often. Hopefully, the new showrunners take that baton and keep going in the direction of him being outed.

I like the “I am Iron Man” comparison. Since it seems like the Green Arrow might actually be the world’s 1st superhero (at least on Earth 1), and because he/the show launched a television universe, I find it fitting that he be the first one to go public (like Downey Jr in IM).
