Aside from DA is anyone really happy with Kubiak's play calling? (7 Viewers)

I agree with everything you said except about DC. In his career, he has had 28 comeback wins and 35 game winning drives. It's not him. He had PC as an OC and minimal weapons at his disposal with the Saints. And it not accurate that he can't throw on the run
Yes he may have 28 comeback wins, but 0 as a Saint. I do remember in 2023 he did drive the team down the field in the last 2 minutes with the Saints down 2, only to have the kicker miss. But again, 0 comeback wins as a Saint which is what I said in my original post. "With the Saints he has 0 two minute game winning drives."

And I will disagree about his accuracy on the run, he has none. Though I will agree with you about his OC being PC. That play calling was horrible. He has had lesser talent this year since both Rasheed and Olave have been out and he does look good when not pressured. Kubiak has done a great job this year with the hand he has been dealt. I will say this about Carr, he is above average when he has time in the pocket but waaaaaaayyyyyyyy below average when pressured.

Sucky part is that we lost the year where we could've caught teams off guard playing a brand of offensive football they haven't seen out of us before. Now next season they'll have film on our tendencies and tbh I don't see anything special about what we were trying to do. So....long story short - no...not impressed. Next coach up

I mean, jmo, but you gotta give a coach at least two seasons before moving on. But, since Rizzi is still interim, might be a moot point anyway.

Based on what I’ve seen from this offense and how Kubiak designed it…he really needs a Joker TE or basically a Taysom.

I haven’t seen Kamara get used in a ground breaking way, I think Sean was far more creative w/ him, but I don’t think Sean ever used TEs in the way that I’ve seen them deployed in this scheme.

We absolutely need to leave this draft w/ a quality TE

I sometimes wonder what Payton could have done with Hill if he had moved on from the idea of Hill as a potential QB.

I'm really down on this offense. If just doesn't make sense to me and he doesn't seem to make any adjustments when necessary.
I know we have a lot of injuries but we can't seem to run an NFL offense. Any agree'ers?
No, absolutely don’t agree.

What are your expectations here…. That a good coach can take a rookie 5th round rookie and make a top 10 or even 15 offense?

Or a good OC can take an average QB with not ONE SINGLE weapon that would fetch a draft pick except a lower pick for Kamara. With a OLine that has two developing tackles and an interior that is rarely healthy and playing together.

By this logic, that it’s the OCs fault that he can’t get this bunch to perform at a top 15 group, then I assume you believe the draft is pointless, he should be able to get ANYONE to perform as long as they have a uniform on, correct?

I wonder what adjustments I would make if I’m already doing the limited things my team is capable of. You can’t hold up in pass pro long enough to get the ball down field, you don’t have the toughness to catch balls in traffic, you aren’t strong enough to run inside or speed to run outside.

What adjustments should that coach make? Is he not utilizing all of his talented receivers properly? The only guy who is decently productive is Kamara and it’s no coincidence he’s the only guy I mentioned as a guy that another team would consider giving you a pick for.

Kubes is not a bad OC, we just don’t have the stable of RBs to run his offense. No TEs that change games, two of the things needed for that scheme. We’ve been in a lot of 1 score games (4) that would have changed our season but came up short. Defense let us down, but offense just couldn’t control the outcome. Looking forward to new things happening in the offseason!!!!

Nope...but I knew I wasn't going in. Scheme - player mismatch from day 1

Edit...not scheme, ideology - player mismatch from day 1
Are you talking about the players on IR or the players on the field now? Cuz there is a huge difference.

I’m wondering if we gave him some ground beef, hot sauce, lettuce, shake and bake and pudding if he could make a good gumbo.

I’m not saying he’s great, I’m saying we don’t really know and all this shallow analysis is ridiculous.

Some decent data to evaluate would be that in the 1st 4 games before the flood of injuries including the starting QB, the offense was playing well…

He should've known the risk when signing up to board the Titanic after it struck the iceberg.

Sucks for him - but I just don't think he'll get a yr 2

I'm thinking players from week 1. You want to run a run first offense with small bodied speedsters at WR. It was faux hope week 1...Carolina is and will be trash for the foreseeable future....week 2 Dallas' defense is light in the trenches and has been run through by everyone since. I just don't think what we put out there was going to work for a whole season. It showed its true colors week 3 and has been a grind to get points since.

We went out and got Carr then got an OC who's specialty is apparently taking it out of the QBs hands and focusing on the ground game...player - scheme mismatch

It's a win-win for Rizzi.
Titanic sinks: can't blame it on Rizzi, he was given the helm of a sinking ship that just struck an iceberg.
Titanic sails to a safe harbor (say .500 record): now he's on the radar for bigger and better things.

Kubiak called a QB option run to the short side that put a QB that's already missed time due to injury in position to be injured. I like the scheme he runs... but I question his play calling. Vs the Rams he has a Tight end block their best pass rusher one on one on the final play... just strange choices.

...
To be clear, I was talking about Kubiak. I don't know if Rizzi gets a second year, but I tend to think we should give KK a second year. That said, its also probably moot because a new HC likely means he'll pick his own staff. I'd hope he picks KK, but odds aren't high it would happen.
