Assante Samuel to Eagles? KFFL Reports Deal Done [MERGED] (2 Viewers)

I really don't think CB is as big a need as the front 7...I think thats why you see us going after a Reeves and probably Gay...I think were trying to build that front seven with as much talent as we can get and getting better overall talent at corner....we didnt want Samuel at that price cause his position though important isn't as vital as the front 7....and the fact we can draft our own Samuel in this years draft....I think we either go Balmer, Rivers or DRC. with that 1st pick.

Sign Gay and draft Dorsey or Ellis, put immediate pressure on the QB and even Jason David will good. If the Saints continue to fail to pressure on QBs it wouldn't matter if we signed Deion Sanders and Dick Nighttrain Lane in their prime, they'd still get torched....

Yeah, i seem to agree with your line of thinking. I just wish MM would be for sure healthy and ready to go for the season. That is what is my biggest worry, and what i believe makes our CB need so much worse.

Actually, with the Raiders signing Kelly to that huge deal (and already having Terdell Sands at NT), the chances of one of them being there has improved even more. Here's a quick look at the top 10:

1. Miami-Chris Long
2. St. Louis-Jake Long
3. Atlanta-Matt Ryan
4. Oakland-Darren McFadden
5. Kansas City-Ryan Clady
6. New York Jets-Vernon Gholston
7. New England-Derrick Harvey, DE (Sedrick Ellis or a CB could also go here)
8. Baltimore-Leodis McKelvin
9. Cincinnatti-Phillip Merting
10. New Orleans--Glenn Dorsey or Sedrick Ellis, depending on who is on the board and who they like most.

And the Jets have their NT in Kris Jenkins, so they probably need Gholston as a tweener. Why did you put Merting for the Bengals?

cause the Bengals are most likely to lose Justin Smith to Free Agency and that then be a major need for that team

Yeah, he's a great Cb....what's his injury history - looks like he can't complete a season...

alot of players cant complete a season, it doesnt make them injury prone...it makes them injured...this guy is a pro bowl corner.

How much would Sheppard cost?

Also, I think Randall Gay has been excellent every time I've seen him play. I know he fits into the whole "Mid-tier FA" thing, but I'd rather Gay and a few other players, as well as drafting CB's, then Samuel, and noone else, and possibly losing one of Smith, Colston or Evans next year...

Law might be a good 1-year signing to cover for McKenzie's recovery year.

But we'd still have another half of the field uncovered.

There's speculation that Sheldon Brown could be moved to safety, which could mean that Samuel and Sheppard would be the Eagles' starting cornerbacks.

Doubt this happens.

If the Eagles sign Samuel, Lito will not be happy with his deal and will want more money. They will certainly deal Lito if AS is signed.

Now I would love us to keep both - but there is no way it would happen. I think they deal Lito for WR or DE improvement

If McKenzie can't play this year, at his salary and age, he will probably be cut.

Can't cut a player on IR, and McKenzie's age has nothing to do with his production. You let him heal and then see if he can go. Anything else is doing a disservice to your own team.
