Beating the Falcons proved what many thought (2 Viewers)

The Falcons kicker missed 3 field goals in one game. Two of which were just bad kicks. If he makes those we are talking about a losing effort today and replaying a lot of mistakes on both sides of the ball.

We won and it’s awesome but we need to talk about that wide open drop for a touchdown by Kamara to ice the game. That was huge missed opportunity with no one around him

IDK This is a division rival you have to take this win with a grain of salt. I remember many years where Falcons got the best of us even in our playoff years and they were terrible.
The Payton-era Saints ended the Falcons’ pursuit of an undefeated season twice when it was already clear the Saints themselves were going nowhere (2012, 2015)

While I agree that DA was a clear issue, maybe pump the breaks on playoff. I am so happy that the team got this win, they played with heart and never gave up.

We got lucky, three missed FG's is a blessing you don't get gifted very often. The Failcons should have won that game.

We got beat in 1st downs, Total Plays, Yards, Rushing Yards and ToP. Basically we just did to the Falcons what the Panthers did to use last week.

Think about what you're saying.

Youre pumping brakes on a HC figuring out HOW TO WIN against a team 6-3, despite being beat in all the stats you mentioned. He found a way to win.

Meanwhile, the prior dolt figured how HOW TO LOSE a game last week against a 1-7 team, that his team dominated in every statistical category. He found a way to lose.

I mean, WHAT? You have to wonder if we would've at least made the playoffs last year by winning some close games (we tied for the div lead at 9-8). I am relatively confident we would've made the playoffs last year with a cocker spaniel listed as the head coach. He was that bad.

I understand Koo was our best player. But still, there's no chance Allen wouldve won that game.

Loved the way they played, having said that they don’t win if Koo doesn’t have a historically bad game.

I know it’s unpopular here but I just don’t want to barely miss the playoffs again and have a middling pick. So tired of that scenario.
1. higher picks don't necessarily guarantee a player won't bust. plenty of top 5 picks BUST; and every team in the NFL passed on Drew Brees in the 1st round. i don't think it matters that much if a player is taken top 5, middle of round, or end of round. what matters most, is making the RIGHT pick. at a minimum, a solid starter....ideally, a guy who moves the needle.
2. IF the Saints end up with a "middling pick", it means Rizzi did a helluva job with what he had to work with. I also think it means the Saints found a coach for the future. We're either gonna end up with a high pick, or a LTS (long-term solution) HC. Both are good outcomes, IMO. Truth be told though....I'd prefer the LTS Coach because I think that'll be a bigger impact on the team than any player the Saints select, except maybe a franchise caliber QB. But without the HC, I don't think the franchise caliber QB will matter much.

With those 2 things said, i hope that allows you to fully enjoy today's victory. I know I am. And if this effort continues, I'll still enjoy the "fight", regardless of outcome. As long as Rizzi and the team keeps chopping wood, the way wood is SUPPOSED to be chopped, the remainder of the season should be enjoyable to watch. (raises glass for toast) Here's to THAT!

Fair comments. But let's not overlook that the Saints partially blocked 1 of those kicks. That was a "forced error", not a Koo error. And if we're playing the "what if" game....what if Kamara catches that pass near the end zone in last 2:00 of game; like he typically does. And what if we convert that 4 and short near the goal line on the 1st drive.

We gained good draft capital with the Lattimore trade so having an early first round pick and subsequently early draft picks in every round after can only benefit us.

We are still a talented team who lacked a good HC so we should not be surprised if they pull off some wins.

Going back to the title of the thread, to me, this game proves that the Saints/Falcons is a legit rivalry:

1. Regardless of the record or injuries, these teams are a pain in each other’s arses.
2. Both teams have the ability to make the other look better or worse than they really are.
3. For the better part of 20 years, these games are rarely decided early and typically come down to the end.
4. The Falcons should be embarrassed once again. :hihi:

I'm with you on this, rather the Saints be competitive, play with urgency get some wins. With this we have our next coach already in the building. It's one less thing to worry about in the off season.

I can't stand the thought of tanking

I don’t disagree at all. Certainly understand folks who will be pulling for that, I’m just not one of em. I’d like a top 5 pick. Or anything other than winning just enough to barely miss the playoffs and procure a mid round pick.
