College needs a salary cap.

There will be "corrections" but why should a talented athlete in a sport with insane market value not be able to earn his market worth? Especially when he's a revenue generator for his school and he's literally risking his future physical livelihood, which will affect his future earning potential if he's disabled?

While community and corporate NIL will be hard to regulate, the schools will be soon be given greater latitude to be more than a pass-through for paying players. This will be very regulated but it's a way for football donors to get tax deductions (donating to a non-profit which state universities are) and a way to ensure everybody on the team gets paid at minimum, "a salary floor."

Nope. Any system that says all other actors (schools and coaches) can get paid as much as they want does not need a cap. It's starting to sound like some traditional schools don't like that they don't have all the leverage anymore.

Well clearly he hasn't done anything yet that would require official capacity. HE hasn't hired anyone... he just tells the personnel department who he wants (and perhaps a salary), they take care of the actual hire.

Both him and McCarthy are well established and proven commodities.
But they are the old guard, and the question is, do we want the old guard or do we want to basically take a little more risk, and find a new up-and-coming young coach with fresh new ideas like we did when Payton came on board?

He’s not turning in expense reports for recruiting trips, doing it on his own dime? He’s not doing press conferences sporting UNC gear? He’s not signing recruits with the understanding that he doesn’t really work for the University? Seems like a rather wonky business model. Is he being considered an intern?
