Brees needs to stop ill-advised throws/colston needs to catch it (2 Viewers)

50% line play right now 50% Dumb decisions by Brees IMO. The line is forcing him to try and make it happen...

I don't care that I will be flamed but Brees needs to stop with the crazy panic throwing. Those seven points could have been the difference in the game. If this were Reggie bush, people would be livid. It's embarassing hearing them call it Favre-like. To be truthful, the two passes this year against the falcons are Brooks-like.

Excuse me, but Aaron Brooks is still the QB who led the Saints' to their first playoff victory, maybe he deserves a little more respect, don't you think?

:)

Colston has really been struggling.

And Drew would be the first to tell you he needs to stop the turnovers. The problem is he was running for his life all night.

The safety knocked the ball out of his hands before he was able to put it away. Not sure what else Colston was supposed to do.

Had he 'caught' the ball and possessed it, the db would not have been able to swipe the ball from his grasp. He had the ball down by his hips. It was not a great play by the DB more than a poor attempt at receiving the ball. Colston has been a lot better in the past. He NEEDS to come thru for this team.

It drives me nuts when he tries those throws as well, but I also think they come from a sense of urgency that well....I guess what I'm trying to say is that if the o-line was playing with the same sense of urgency he wouldn't have to try those throws.

Lets see in the last 3 weeks Drew is Avg over 40 attempts per game! I expect Drew to feel pressure to make it up as he goes when you have the entire game resting on your right arm. I hope we can find some balance going into the playoffs.

Drew Brees was the MVP of this game, even with the two INT's he threw. One of which to me was a really good play by Abraham. The other... Well, yeah, it was DUMB and very similar to the DUMB one he had in week 3.

That said, he was the best player on the field on Monday Night and won that game with all the passes he made after getting hurried in the pocket.

The offensive was predictable all night, everything was easy to pick out.

In DB'S defense and Bushrods defense the second Int was a wide reciever screen to Moore which left Abraham completely untouched. I dont agree with that call from Payton. You just dont let a guy the caliber of Abraham run free at your QB ever. Maybe Drew could have moved a little more in the pocket but it is a quick hit play. IMO just a bad play call. With that saind the 1st Int was completely ridiculous.

Bushrod was pretty awful last night and may make us use a early pick on a left tackle if he continues to struggle with pass blocking.

We just spent a 2nd round pick on one. Loomis, always one step ahead :)

I agree with FF, Colston has at least 1 or 2 routine drops a game and I'm worried it's really gonna' cost us a game. Drew, for all the great things he does, is starting to get crazy with his improvisation and throws.

I'm glad we have both on our team but am worried that it will cost us a game in the future.

Brees played an incredible game. The interception by Abraham was simply an extraordinary play by Abraham. The first interception was a very poor decision, as was Drew's flip to Thomas in the second half. Those two plays aside, Brees was tremendous. He was very accurate. He was incredibly cool under heavy pressure--most other quarterbacks would have been sacked five times. And he was money when it counted.

Regarding the two bad decisions noted above, I am reminded of Steve Young's comments after the game that Brees looks like a quarterback who believes he has to carry his team for the team to win. The offensive line looks average. The running game is mediocre. The special teams have been less than special. The defense statistically has played well, but has not produced the number of big plays it produced last year. For the Saints to beat good teams, Drew Brees has to play at a very high level. That pressure may be causing some of the questionable throws we have seen this year.

Because of his inconsistency, Colston just has not played this year like a great receiver. There was some incidental contact with the ball by a defensive back on the first "drop," but a great receiver makes that catch. And then there was the later drop. The problem is that we are not talking about one game--all receivers have some drops--but every game he seems to have at least one drop. Pro Bowl receivers don't do that.

Colston needs to get that coach back and play catch with the ball with the colors on it or whatever. His case of the dropsies can no longer be excused. It has reached the point where Colston catching is as much of a surprise as Henderson catching.

Pretty soon, it will be the playoffs and our players need to be playing their best football.
Man, I criticized Brees for his fumbles last week and caught a lot of heat for it, as if I didn't know Brees has been the best QB the Saints have had. He is great, but he has to be more protective of the ball at times.

I'll reiterate what I wrote last week. If you don't like what you watched last night from Brees, then you need to start asking the GM to find a new starting QB. Because that is exactly who Brees is. It is always been who Brees is.

His greatest victory at Purdue came against Ohio State. He threw 4 INT's that game! On the last one, he made a horrible decision and had to tackle the guy himself to save a Pick-6. OSU scored anyway to retake the lead, and then he simply proceeded to throw the game winning TD with 2 minutes left.

Last night was almost like watching a flashback of that game. I can't believe you guys keep expecting him to change. "Stop taking so many chances!" "Stop throwing bone-headed INT's!"

The guy has supreme confidence in his ability to make the game winning play, because he has done it many, many times. Sometimes it doesn't work out so great. But most of the time, he comes through. Just have faith! You've got one Super Bowl victory already. And it wouldn't hurt to get that running game working better too.

The oline needs to block. I seriously think that brees was hurried on every play before that last 90 yard drive. I do not remember a play that brees did not have to ballerina dance himself out of a sack. The interceptions come from frustration not being able to get to the end of his dropback cleanly. Block for him though and he will drive 90 yards alll day.

Note, the quick throws worked well when used. Two steps and fire against that kind of pressure.

You guys do know that this is all tied to our lack of a running game right? There has been way too much for Drew to overcome on his own and what a running game wouldn't do to correct all of these miss judgements due to excessive blitzes etc. There isnt another QB in the league with the stones to mount that final winning TD drive after those two interceptions.

Even the enemy see's this and correctly has given props to drew on the Falcons board

True dat. Payton needs to recalibrate the play calling to get the run game going. Ivory returning to health would really help as well.
