Opinion Brian Flores Is the only Defensive HC that should be considered by the Saints. The Vikings are not going to keep him past this yr. (2 Viewers)

Ridiculous, Flores is not like DA. Seems like you just want a firey HC. I guess you'd pass on Andy Reid because he's not firey or Mike Tomlin

I want a coach who the players respond to. They didn't respond to DA who has a very similar personality to Flores. Reid is the best in the game, who wouldn't want that? The Steelers have a system that allows them to develop/keep talent which we have tried to emulate, but chasing another ring in the twilight of Brees' career derailed that. There has been times fans have wanted Tomlin fired so he's not untouchable. He coaches for a team that is loyal to their coaches which goes with their system.

I guess you don't want a coach the players respond to since you're hell bent on replacing Rizzi.

Not every coordinator is built to be a HC. Being a good/great coordinator is one thing but a HC is something else.

Flores and Allen are really good DC’s but they haven’t done well as HC’s.

In today’s NFL I think OC’s as HC’s are more coveted because of the ever changing schemes and game planning. Demeco Ryan’s and Sean McDermott are the only DC’s I’ve seen lately that has been successful as a HC.

Players respond to ALL types of HCs. from the Reid , Tomlin to Shanny and John Harbaugh types to the Payton and Campbell types although Campbell got A LOT of help. In fact it's the ones that are more to the even keel that are more successful.
If you actually did read my posts you'd know that I am not hell-bent on replacing Rizzi, I like the guy. I just think there may be more qualified candidates out there. But if he goes 6-2 or maybe 5-3 in his 8 games he deserves an interview. But make no mistake Rizzi will HAVE to have a great OC and DC to be successful because he's never going to be a play caller on offense or defense

Can anyone name a head coach that was fired, then worked as a coordinator for some time before returning as a head coach that had real success the second time around? I'm not making a point here... I just can't think of any.

Belichick, Gary Kubiak, Pete Carrol was fired by the Jets and did 2 yrs as DC in SF before the HC at USC before going to Sea.

I'd be fine with Flores if he kept Kubiak as OC and the O staff. Our OL is built to run the ball and run a wide zone scheme. It would be a bad move to bring in a new O staff and have the team and DC learn a whole new system

I think anyone we hire is going to want to bring in their own staff. People they’re familiar with. He’d probably bring someone from the Vikings staff as OC. I’d put my money on Josh McCown.

I hope not. If I were ML Id strongly suggest to the next guy that KK and the whole O staff be kept. It's a great offensive staff with Benton and Dennison and Janocko and Keith Williams. I'd put this staff up against anyone in the league

Even though Flores has come out & said the right things in response to that pretty damning Tua interview, i hope we steer clear of a guy who has that in his coaching DNA. Sorry, not a fan of Brian Flores. In terms of the defensive minded HCs, i really like Jesse Minter(LAC), Aaron Glenn(DET), & Anthony Weaver(MIA). Minter in particular seems like a dude who’s been groomed to be a HC. Liam Coan, Jesse Minter & Adam Stenavich are top 3 on my coaching wishlist.

I'm liking Minter as well, but it could also be said that Rizzi has been groomed to be a HC with his years a Assistant HC and his experience as an actual HC in college although they were smaller programs, the responsibility of the whole team translates.

I agree, he has to have good coordinators around him to be successful. KK doesn't strike me as a HC so I think we'll be able to keep the offensive staff in place for at least next season, maybe longer. Rizzi being a ST guy will know who's the best to have in place, it could be someone he's already brought in to continue their development or an up and comer. DC is the wildcard since that was DA's side and he built that defense. I like the changes Woods has done already, but who knows what happens there.

I think you just stick with Rizzi if you want to keep the entire coaching staff.

Rizzi seems to be a great motivator, lets his coordinators do thier jobs. He also seems to have a vision.

If he ends up.with a winning record in the games he has managed, he should hands down be the next HC. He has gotten 2 wins in two games. A few weeks ago I didn't think the Saints were going to win that for the rest of the season.

I think you just stick with Rizzi if you want to keep the entire coaching staff.
For all of you Rizzi fans (I'm excited for what he has done so far but I think reality hits next weekend) can you answer this question. Coaching 32 years and has interviewed a couple of times for a top NFL job according to Rizzi himself. Why has he not been offered a head coaching position? Is he just a better #2 or #3 on a staff? I was concerned with the buzz around an interim and people endearing themselves to that coach. The bar was so low with DA that it was easy to get people fired up.

Leaving too many things status quo feels like we are running it back with a some slight modifications. It's time for an overhaul of the organization.

If Rizzi happens to go 7-1 I think you have to give him strong consideration. Other than that I think you need to go outside of the building.

Flores would be a terrible hire and I'm tired of people only looking through the lens of head coach on their ability to call a defense or offense. As good he is at managing a defense. He's equally terrible at managing an offense just like Dennis.

You're just getting a better Dennis Allen.

Rizzi didn't just leave things status quo.

Who knows why he hasn't been hired as a HC yet, but he's getting his chance to show what he's got right now and it's working.
