Britney Griner released 12-08-2022 (2 Viewers)

Why does it matter if he was "ok " or not with the exchange?

Does that change anything about the exchange? Of course not...so its a moot point unless you are looking for something past the trade to get your panties in a wad about.
Let me post this again...

If you look at that Sixty Minutes piece, you would understand what the government went through to get that guy, and he was used to free Brittney Griner, what a load of ****.
Yeah, I'm pretty angry with the exchange...

Griner is currently on a 3 yr(s) / $664,544 contract in the WNBA and plays overseas in Russia on a 7 figure contract.

Clearly you don't know what your taking about

is that $664,544 PER year or OVER the 3 years?

Because if its the latter, thats $214,848 per year.

That aint rich.

Both are domestic abusers, fantastic! Don't forget she agreed to have a baby with her then fiancée and only decided after she gave birth to annul the marriage and try to fight paying child support.

She's a scummy person.

Regardless of all of this, she brought this all upon herself. She decided to go to a country that's not friends with the US and smuggle illegal drugs. She decided on that all on her own.

Now we gave up a weapons dealer responsible for the death and pain of countless American military members. For what????

She's an American, who was playing for a professional basketball team in Russia at what turned out to be a seriously unfortunate time, and alleged to have a made a mistake that came with serious consequences for her. I'm going to guess that you never actually had any real concern for her fiancé / ex-wife, as evidenced by your apparent indifference to the details of what happened, but I do appreciate that it's your prerogative to think of Griner whatever you wish. Fortunately that had no bearing on her release and return home.

Look at you., Mr money bags...

What do you bring home...?

I wish I made over 200K a year...Playing a kid's game...

This was done for purely political optics.

What political benefits do you think will come from this? The timing doesn't seem particularly helpful; days after the conclusion of the current election cycle and more than a year from when the next cycle will start cranking up again. The people who will praise this development, and the ones who will berate it, are pretty much set in stone at this point.

Her net worth is 17 million.

214k/yr is her salary from be WNBA. (FOUR months of work) she also makes/has been making 7 figures annually playing in Russia.

She's rich and famous.

It is a bit odd that we, as a rule, don't negotiate with terrorists. And yet, we just did, and basically did it contrary to all the overriding policy reasons for why we shouldn't, which is that it strengthens their resolve to keep doing this and it puts someone dangerous back into the world. I just don't understand why we violated our policy in this one instance for this one person.
That's definitely fair and this is where you can get into criticisms of this I'd say as there was certainly more attention in general pointed towards Griner's imprisonment than Whelan's. Did that have an impact on who went home and who stayed and what they were willing to give up? I'd hope not but we all know that in reality that stuff can certainly play a role.

There's just so much we don't know about how this all went down that it's difficult for me to hold very defined feelings on it at the moment.

he forgot to subtract taxes.

so her "take home" is significantly less than $214,000~

Like i said, no where close to rich.

you dont have to play a kids game to make that kind of money. Just have to be blessed.

She is at the WNBA max of 220k a year....hardly enough to make someone wealthy, the reason so many of the pro woman play in other countries is because they don't earn enough here....

She is one of the lucky few to have a NIKE contract....but the entire point that you are missing here is she plays there because she doesn't make very much here....clearly you don't know what you are talking about or you would have said something about the Nike contract.....
