Putin gave back Griner (rather than Whelan) so that Biden would catch hell from the American public (which he is). If Putin wanted to give Biden a “push” on the trade he would have thrown in Whalen (that would seem fair).

If we are now waiting on the time when we can trade for Whalen, might I suggest not holding your breath?

Inversely, there's no doubt that this move will bolster his ratings. It's a good look for some.

On the other hand, the move may drive more right-leaning independents to vote GOP and solidify the base. The logic will be that Biden isn't a Vet-friendly pres. Afghanistan exit and now this.

Not my opinions by the way- just stating what the possibilities are when it comes to the impact of this swap.

Agree that we should have gotten more in exchange for the war criminal who is responsible for many deaths by arming groups like Al-Qaeda. Happy she is free, no one deserves to be locked-up for that length of time for personal use in any country.

I read the story this morning and it pissed me off. Our Leadership lost more today than just a bad "horse trade". Would my stance be different if it was one of my loved ones involved? We are all glad that she is coming home, to that end we can all rejoice.

We will have to agree to disagree on this point that there was no “deal that makes sense”, as there is always a deal to be had. One Mr. Theodore Marvin DiBiase Sr. fought to teach us all the lesson that everyone has a price.
