I'm relieved Griner has been released but I recognize this is more complicated than a situation that can adequately be described as "ok". Difficult circumstances often don't have neatly satisfying outcomes.

But in this day and age when race is always brought into question, a white guy being released (while the black woman remains locked up) would go over about as well as a turd in the punch bowl.

There are many differences between Griner and Whalen that have nothing to do with race.

you failed to ask because i never once said this was a bad deal. It was A deal. The best deal presented to the US at the time and they took it.

You're saying that the video shows that she maintained possession of her bag the entire time prior to the Russians finding the cartridges? If so, then okay I concede that point.

Her pleading guilty in a Russian Court means little to me as far as whether or not she was guilty.
