Butler agrees to terms with Saints (merged) (1 Viewer)

Well I took the time to login, just so I could rate this thread. Then I took the time to comment about logging in to rate the thread. Maybe you could have taken the time to look and see if what you posted had already been posted?

Ouch. Your right, i should have refreshed but from the time i sat down to post to the time i got to come back to the desk there already had another thread, my bad.

He's not that good in coverage (according to my friends who are Cowboys fans) but they all say he can dang sure rush the passer.

I'll take it.

He can play SOLB/WOLB on passing downs and subpackages which we will be going back to. So we have that insurance for both Tez/Galette. If either or can't make the transition then butler with his knowledge of the scheme could step in and contribute or take over.

I think this allows us to either stay put and draft a LT/DL (games are won in the trenches and i think our first pick could be either or)

Good... we should never expect to see him in coverage then. I never understood why a guy like Ware or Harrison would be in coverage anyway.

Couldn't we have found an LSU player to sign? I think that this draft should be strictly LSU players that the homers would want to draft even if they played on Slippery Rock!

My question is about the second year being voidable depending on playing time and production. That sounds like it is voidable by the Saints not Butler. Can anyone answer this for sure?

Saints fans are downright rude to other Saints fans just for the sake of nothing. Straight up nothing. Nothing surprises me on THIS site anymore.

Why all the feelings man?:

Probably means he couldn't get better money anywhere else........nor probably a starting position anywhere else. With no sure shot starter@ OLB (even though we are already pegging Tez/Galette) we probably gave him the best chance to be more than a role player.

Cleveland is pretty much set @ OLB. Sheard/Kruger....Philly is pretty stocked@ OLB.

So i mean we've got the most ?'s along our LB core and he gets a chance to reunite with his old coach...however he PROBABLY wanted more money and decided to check around.

Then came back to us

Also what it means is that we will probably still address OLB in the draft...but it doesn't have to be the 1st pick.

That gives us some flexibility. Galette has 3 years left, Butler has 2, Wilson has 1 year left...and lets say we draft a SOLB..JAmie Colllins. If Galette doesn't make as smooth a transition then he has Butler down his throat, and if Wilson doesn't transition he has Collins down his throat. So it keeps us from being in a bind later.

YEt i still like the fact of it opening up the chance for us to not HAVE to draft an OLB 1st...especially since its so much projecting.

Just guessing but it's normally voidable by the player

I assume this means that if he plays well for us, he'll void down to 1 year and become a free agent. Good move by him to put that clause in his contract so that he can go out and get a nice deal if he plays lights out. Bad for us.

Probably what made him sign with us. He plans on going lights out and then getting a payday. Hey, it helps us for a year at the least.
