Butler agrees to terms with Saints (merged) (1 Viewer)

Couldn't we have found an LSU player to sign? I think that this draft should be strictly LSU players that the homers would want to draft even if they played on Slippery Rock!

Official Dream Draft

1. Mingo
1. Trade all our picks next year to trade up for Sam Montgomery
2. Mathieu from trading all our picks.
3. Eric Reid he will still be there.
4.Bennie Logan
5.Alex Hurst
6. Josh Downs

Pick Jamarcus Russell up as our back groom him to take drew Brees job and if not make him our dt. Fire Rob Ryan and hire cam cameron.

I'm no expert but I hope RR has everybody on a clean slate. I hope he doesn't have any starters penciled in, it's only march. We have no drew brees on defense. Maybe lofton is closest defense has to penciled in starter, but I hope it's written in pencil.

That statement should earn you a week of lost posting privileges. Saints should never, ever again, give up all their draft picks. For nobody. Ever.

Go sit in the corner until 5pm CST.

Great news! He visited with a lot of teams which shows that we weren't the only team interested and that's a good thing. Butler might not have as big a name as Harrison, Elvis, Freeney etc. but he's younger, cheaper, and hungrier.

I see some people are saying this was a depth signing and they may end up being the case, but he could end up being a lot more than that. We as fans really have no idea as to what his potential is but NFL people, on several teams, saw something in this guy they liked and that's good enough for me.

We can now go into the draft with more options but more importantly Rob Ryan doesn't have to go into next season with so many unknowns at OLB. Who the hell knows how Tez and Junior will transition to the 3-4? At least we have one LB who'd familiar with RR and the 3-4.

any news on what Butler's contract looks like?

I'm guessing its your standard 8.5 x 11 inch white paper. Could be water marked to make it look more "official". However, with a voidable 2nd year, Mickey could have went with legal size 11 x 14 inch.

Probably has your basic automatic black font, I'd venture to say Arial 12 point.

Lol this has to be the best facetious comment of the day.

Suggesting that we take Mathieu in the second was bad enough.

j/k

I guess you didn't pick up the sarcasm.

I did, and still say...corner. Never speak of such evil, even though its tongue-n-cheek. Give the LSU guys a break though, because there have been some good players come from LSU.

They just never come to the Saints.

You know, eventually the Saints are going to have another great OLB. It just has to happen at some point even if it's by accident. Maybe we draft him or maybe we bring him in through free agency. Maybe Rob Ryan holds a public tryout and uncovers some Guatemalan that can run to the QB really fast. Maybe they ask Jimmy Graham to play Iron Man football and we have an All Pro TE and OLB.

Who knows how we'll get him but one day, by hook or crook, we'll find another great Outside Linebacker. And when that day comes the world will rejoice and angels will sing and we will have the next Rickey Jackson or Pat Swilling. Hell I'd settle for the next Renaldo Turnbull.

I'm not saying Butler will be that guy, I'm just sayin...:crossfingers:

Two words: Dalton Hilliard

I think this allows us to either stay put and draft a LT/DL (games are won in the trenches and i think our first pick could be either or)

The closer the draft gets, the more I hope that Sheldon Richardson lasts to the 15th pick.

Bunkley at NT, Richardson and Cam at DE, Hicks able to rotate at each spot or start at the nose. That's a damn good interior for a 3-4. Add in the depth at DE with Will Smith(who'll probably be fighting for a starting job), Tom Johnson and Tyrunn Walker battling in camp and a possible mid-round pick at DT like Kwame Geathers and the transition to this new defense won't be as painful as many people think.
