Captain America- Brave New World- trailer (1 Viewer)

Ya’ll keep saying reasons but they are interviewing people at the theater that wanted to see it and still didn’t like it. That’s all the “reasons” that I need. I get Disney + for free with my Verizon account I will watch it with the grand kids at home and save the $100 bucks at the theater.
I dunno, most of the people I've talked to who have seen it liked it. So...to each his own I suppose.

I do agree the theater is absurdly expensive, particularly for a family.

Only on some channels. Didn't have an issue with NXT.

Covid is a big part of this, and I think that does go overlooked. I also think that the switch to Bob Chapek as Disney CEO and the "turn the content taps on" mandate to bolster Disney Plus put pressure on Marvel to create a bunch of things they maybe otherwise wouldn't have.

It has been well documented that the last several years saw Feige spread way too thin and unable to give everything the same level of attention he had before.

But all that said, I still have one glaring issue with the last several years, and that's a complete lack of identity as to what the overall goal of this saga is.

Phases 1-3 are now collectively referred to as The Infinity Saga. Obviously not everything in them is about Thanos and the Infinity Stones, but there is a sense of everything building to that. In some movies it's just breadcrumbs or references. In others its establishing storylines for later payoff. In others it's very direct plot and character development.

Phases 4-6 are The Multiverse Saga. Phase 5 ends with Thunderbolts. At this point, entering the final act of the saga, I still have no idea what the Multiverse Saga is or what it is possibly even building to aside from some vague notion of Secret Wars tying it up and maybe acting as a soft reboot in a way. There has been very little forward momentum for the overarching MCU. The multiverse concept has mostly just been used for gimmicks and nostalgia and not as an actual plot device. At this point we know that the multiverse exists and we've gotten a bunch of cameos and returns of other iterations of characters for largely self contained stories. And that's it, basically.

I feel no sense of building to Doomsday or Secret Wars. Everything has just been so scattershot and undercooked.
I was under the impression that the last season of Loki was the final nail in the multiverse's coffin. Didn't Loki straighten it all out with only 1 thread again?

Yeah, for sure, the only ones I've gone to in theaters since Endgame have been Dr. Strange MOM and GOTG3. The rest I've waited for D+. I might go see Thunderbolts though.

I will say that of not for D+ I'd probably have gone to see 3 or 4 of the other MCU movies since EG.
I haven’t been to a theater since GOTG2 . The concession prices (paid more for a bag of popcorn and soda than the ticket cost), crying babies, cell phones, and others near me talking and telling others what’s about to happen since they are on their 2nd or 3rd viewing. I don’t intend to ever go again.

For a good, quiet experience at the theater, go to one of the open captions shows. The only differences in the moviegoing experience are the captions on the movie, which is pretty great for me, and very rarely is the theater more than half full. The last time I went, about 18 months ago there were no more than 10 people and it was actually nice. The concessions are certainly stupid priced, but I'll usually have a meal before I go and just enjoy the movie.

Also there are off-peak deals for tickets that are a good bit less than standard prices. I'd say the experience since covid is a bit different than pre-covid although it's been slowly getting back to normal.

Open captioned shows have always had lighter attendance so check you local theater to see if they have that available.

I watched it with my family (wife and 3 of my kids (7,13,17) and we all enjoyed it. It's not going to rank up there with Winter Soldier but it was a fun movie. Yes it has issues but sometimes I feel like we're losing our ability to just sit back and be entertained. I don't need TikTok telling me why I shouldn't like this movie because of some nit pick.

But speaking of movie theaters, my buddy owns a small, two screen cinema here in our rural town. The concessions are no where near as expensive as a big city but they can add up with a family of 5. He says basically, he doesn't make much money off of ticket sales. That all goes to Marvel. Something like they take 80% (or more) of the ticket sales for the first 2 weeks then 50% after that. But movies are in and out of the theater so quickly nowadays that he only makes any money off of concessions. So I buy stuff to keep him in business. Plus I think getting sick on movie popcorn and candy adds to the experience for my kids.

My sole beef with this movie is that Sam's plot armor was...THICK! That would also be true of any other non-power Avenger though, which is why I thought that they should have just mass produced those Spider-Man nanotech suits.

I am one that hates closed captions. I will rarely watch tv in the living because my sister insists it be on at all times. It is nothing but a distraction for those that don’t need it.

This movie wasn’t as bad as advertised but it still wasn’t good.

Yea it basically just exists as a movie for me, doubt I'd watch it again.

It took me 4 days to watch. I could have watched it in one sitting but I watched it at work during lunch and felt zero interest to watch it at night. It just wasn’t good.

I agree with Bucky, he should have taken the super soldier juice.

It was ok. Not great, but definitely not as bad as the critiques, which is why I usually ignore them.

I do wish The Leader looked more as such.

Now give me Betty Ross Red She-Hulk (true to form please).

It wasn’t a great movie. I saw it on a plane ride from NY to SF. When it finished I was like…ok it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be but I wouldn’t watch it again. Then I put on Winter Soldier for the remainder of the flight and realized 2 things, since End Games the movies have been so bad that it made the new cap decent, and secondly don’t watch winter soldier before or after because you realize how good winter soldier is and how really bad the new cap movie is. After winter soldier it reminded me of an 80s made for TV movie.

To be fair, Winter Solider is probably top 5 or so as far as MCU quality (not that I'm really disagreeing overall)

Not sure it's fair comparing it to Winter Soldier when that one arguably tops every other Marvel film so far.

Still, I agree with you that it wasn't great, just kind of a so-so film, way down on the list of Marvel's offerings. Most of the Disney+ series were better than this film (certainly Falcon and the Winter Soldier was despite its silly ending). I again put it down to a poor script. The Red Hulk content was decidedly short and The Leader didn't really do much on screen. Giancarlo Esposito seemed wasted with so little screen time and barely any lines. I don't know who the screen writers were, but they did a pretty bad job of it. It just meandered for most of the film, not really going anywhere. Bucky's cameo appearance just made me want him to be in the film rather than be a 30 second sidebar because nothing was happening of interest.
Then, when it got to Red Hulk, it seemed like it was rushed because they didn't know what to do with the character. Then they made the same mistake as the F&WS series, ending the action with preachy, blabbering nonsense instead of an actual climax. I hope we see Red Hulk again, but with time spent on him and fleshed out a lot.
