That’s a strong choice brother.

I like Coach Pete. I think he is Swimmer's altar ego at work( aka imaginary friend), but he has some good takes. Unfortunately for people who don't understand what it's like having to rehab from a big toe injury like Davenport's, there's really not a lot the guy can do to rehab until the thing is ruled completely healed. Because if he does, he stands the chance of aggravating it to the point he's back to square one. So if a 24 year old guy comes in 15 pounds over weight & healed up from his wounds. what do you do? You give him an extra 400 yards of grass drills & 6 extra gasers a day for three weeks & before you know it, this guy is back at playing weight & ready to kick butt & take names. People really need to lay off of Davenport until the regular season starts anyway. He was having an excellent rookie campaign until the injury. Once the regular season starts & he begins to be a no show there is plenty of time to beat this guy up for not doing his best.

Lol...…..Swimmer has an imaginary friend?

Well imagine that!!………...

If he only has 15 lbs to lose- it is not a big deal unless there is some sort of medical condition we’re not aware of. If he is “out if shape” in that he lost a lot of muscle and quickness because of an incredibly sedentary lifestyle then we have issues.
But He’s 25 years old. He shouldn’t be battling a slowed metabolism.

Who Dats. I want to be clear on this point. I feel like I added confusion over this issue and apologize. I told Coach Pete that I had read where Davenport had gained 15 pounds of muscle over the offseason, He came back and said like, "Well that's 15 pounds of fat around his belly." Coach Pete then went to the point that Davenport reported to camp out of shape. That was his main point. He didn't confirm or deny that Marcus gained 15 pounds. Coach Pete was upset with Davenport for reporting pretty badly out of shape. He went further to explain why he reported out of shape 1) He is shy and didn't bond closely with many teammates so he basically lonered the offseason 2) Immaturity 3) The Saints coaches did not expect this from Marcus and did not actively oversee him in the offseason. Hopes this is a little clearer.

You're not saying anything that argues my point. In fact, everything you stated supports my point. In saying that there's something wrong with the phrase "21-year-old kid", I wasn't saying that there are NONE. I was saying that there is something wrong with someone who is 21 years old and is still acting like a kid, and there's something wrong with someone who thinks that society shouldn't expect 21 year olds on the whole to behave like adults.

As evidence, you cite an experience where young adults acted like kids because they were actually criminals. That means they are outside the norm of behavior so much so that society condemns their behavior and puts them in confinement away from the rest of society because of their behavior. So, that supports my opinion that 21 year olds should not be expected to act like kids. For one, it can be dangerous to society in its extreme cases.

In the case of Davenport, you say it's no big deal because the team can just hire someone to watch over him. I don't disagree with that. However, it doesn't change my statement that I'm sure it's not what the team wanted or expected out of a million dollar double first round pick, not at all. Case in point, if they did expect that kind of unprofessional kidlike behavior, they would have put a "babysitter" on him from the beginning and not waited until he pissed away half the season. Further, if they expected this kind of behavior from him, I'm sure they wouldn't have drafted the guy in the first round and given up next year's first round for the privilege.
He only pointed to it and did not make it the gist of his point but he said the adult brain is not fully formed until mid to late 20s
As most brain science if the last 10-15 years will attest

So yes a 21 yr old kid is biologically accurate

Definitely SPD. Thanks coach Pete for the updates.

Second year has very little to do with it. Yes, he's a second year player. So are Keith Kirkwood and Taylor Stallworth. Grouping MD in with all second year players is kind of ridiculous. I'm sure you would agree that the expectations for MD are much, much higher because of what the Saints gave up for him and what they're paying him. So, he's holding the line and was in on some tackles. That's awesome. I'm sure that's what the Saints are paying him for. I bet Stallworth held the line and was in on some tackles, too. The Saints aren't paying him close to what they're paying MD.
Please tell me you understand that he was being double teamed and chipped by RBs? So, what exactly are the Saints paying MD to do in the pre season?

I read somewhere that it takes even longer for male brains to fully develop.

Brilliant! Hysterical!!! Hey Big L. Thx for the big laughs this morning. I was starting to take myself seriously and that's always a prescription for unhappiness. Have a great day Who Dat Brother and thanks again!
Any time!

renegadewa- always enjoy your comments even when you disagree with me. Since you know more about football than me, I suspect you are usually right. And you have an awesome sense of humor.
