Comic Con Talk (Renamed since LA Comic Con can't get it together) (2 Viewers)

I've never been to one of these things. Was considering taking my 9 year old on sunday in NOLA. What can i expect at these type of things? Would my son have fun? I should say, i doubt my son cares or even knows who any of the celebrities are. i was thinking it could be fun seeing people dressed up and all the random stuff there. Not sure if that makes it worth the entry price.
my 10 yr old is major into Anime and Japan by extension
we went to Japan Fest a few months ago and he loved the cosplay (and wants to do it next year)
so when I remembered about Fan Expo I got us tickets
he'll dress up and wwe're mostly going to people watch - he says he wants to go to Anime Voice talent panels, but ...we'll see

Alright, question time for those more experienced at Fan Expo. I know at Louisiana Comic Con and Geek'd Con, you can pay for the auto and a selfie at the table. Is that also the case at Fan Expo? On the website, I see the cost of the auto and a photo op for each guest, which can be purchased in advance, but wasn't sure if they did it the table too. Also, does the photo op listed on the website mean taking a picture with them at a separate time rather than taking a selfie with your phone at their table? Thanks!

The pre-pay thing is a relatively recent phenomenon. I know when Hayden Christensen did Fan Expo Dallas a few years ago he was prepay only. There was no just getting in line. In my experience most guests still do it thr old fashioned way and I think some may do hybrid, where you can prepay or do the line. Some are switching to just prepay though.

Photo ops are a separate thing. They leave their table for a period of time to go to the photo op area with a photographer then you go and get a professional photo taken during the allotted time.

I might spring for the photo op and just get a printed out picture right then and there. From what i can tell on the website, there are only a certain number of photo ops sold so you're guaranteed a picture if you pay in advance.

Yeah, they cap it, but if you get one you're guaranteed a photo.

I found it interesting that Michael J Fox $> than Shatner $> than Andy Serkis $

Some of it is availability. Fox only does about four of the bigger cons a year due to his health issues. Shatner still does a ton of shows a year even at 90.

I realize they're pushing hard for Back to the Future and I figured it was something like that (but Andy Serkis??)

I'd say for a Sunday price spending some time in the main hall, taking pics, seeing all the vendors and their wears would maybe be worth it. But it really depends on how into comixs/anime/video games/sci-fi and fantasy he is.
OOORRRR.... Squash all of that and come to room 209 at 4PM.

Make sure you compare the price on the individual's page to that on Epic's page. They can differ (Epic includes fees as well).

If you plan on standing in line at the table, make sure you go early as they will definitely send you away if they reach the cap for that period of time.

What day are you coming? I might want to interview your kid if that's ok.
