Could Siemien Be a Lot Better With a Full Week of Starter Reps? [Mod edit] (2 Viewers)

He had his ups and downs today, but they came in relief in a game he got zero starter reps during the week for. That was a lot of pressure he shouldered and he didn't wilt.

With Taysom Hill likely out at least another week, Simien is the guy. He should be better after a full week of practice and a game plan designed around him. Things get a lot easier for the running game next week as well, and that should open things up.

I'm not predicting Simien becomes the long-term answer, but he might surprise us.
He looked better than Winston when he came in for relief of Brees last year

I think it's pretty clear that he's a game manager at best, if he can play mistake free football (which today he pretty much did) then we can win with him but it's going to take the defense stepping up even more so than they already have. I was impressed by his ability to hang in there and make some smart football plays though.

I think I’ve seen this movie before. A mostly lifelong backup comes in and has a Cinderella game. The next week he turns into a pumpkin.

I’m not knocking Trevor. He played a solid game and I think he’s fine for emergencies like today but I have major doubts that he can be the guy moving forward.

Im also fine if he makes me eat crow. If it comes to that I’ll happily eat it.

I would say that he'd probably get a little better. As it was today he ended up with Jameis numbers. I don't think Siemian will lead this team to SB. I think the defense and AK could carry us to the playoffs. Hard to advance in the playoffs with the offense we have.

I'm not sure he can be a long term solution.

His ceiling is low.

We would be in "don't screw this up" mode the rest of the year. That's not good.

There was a lot of ugly out there today. We were fortunate to come out with the win.

I hope so because man some of those passes were horrible. He was throwing some of those passes as receivers feet. I don’t remember him throwing with that Phillip rivers side arm motion

Two possibilities intrigue me:

The Saints convince Brees to lace 'em up for a few weeks until we are set.

The Saints call in Cam Newton and in a laughably ironic twist, he leads the Saints to their 2nd Super Bowl victory, frustrating all other NFCS franchises; especially the Panthers as some of them would be rooting for Cam and us winning would kill them. Lol
Neither will happen.

Yeah. Let's give Trevor a week to prepare before trying to cast him off. We already know what we have with Hill at QB. That's not going to get us far.

Let's remember that Trevor Siemian completed over 60% of his passes starting for Denver. Biggest thing against him at that time is that he was never in any long-term plans by John Elway.

Give the guy a full week to prepare with the 1s.

If anything, Payton has shown there is more than one way to win. I think you give him dang near anyone and he can get through a game appealing to his strength. I think I prefer Taysom against Atlanta though, mobile QBs give their defense fits
