I don't think YouTube can be sued for something like that. There is a ton of bad advice in, I would guess, hundreds of thousands of videos that could cause harm.
I think when YouTube goes into filtering content then that should increase their liability if something they didn't filter out results in harm. At that point they are telling us that they are taking out bad content, that could imply the content they didn't remove is safe.

I know a lot of this was debated when Facebook was giving depositions to Congress and they were debating if these social media sites are platforms or publishers.

What I always tell people is that you can sue or be sued for anything. The only question is whether you or they can win. It seems like a bad case to me, but if you are as large as YouTube sometimes it doesn't matter if you win or not as the legal fees will be high no matter what. Also, probably 90% or more of the suits filed in the United States are either settled or voluntarily dismissed. Both sides usually don't want to take their chances with a jury. And, in places like Orleans Parish, it's not at all uncommon for defendants to just agree to settle for a lowish number to avoid further legal fees and/or going in front of an Orleans Parish jury.

By filtering, they can at least show that they made a good faith effort to not let out dangerous information which would likely mean they were not negligent and they stop a lot from going out on their site. If they do nothing, then it would be evidence that they ignored something dangerous that they should have known. And knew or should have know is usually the first step to a case for negligence.

What are you guys seeing in your areas for plans to reopen in regards to child care?

If businesses open in phases, do child care facilities only accept children if people can prove they work in business sectors approved to open?

I have seen nothing about child care facilities. And the thing is that there won't be enough day cares even if they are allowed to open fully because there are lots of kids that are too young to stay home alone that won't be in school so there will be no place for them to go. I know that a lot of summer camps have cancelled already this summer.

Youtube and Twitter have been sketchy for years, there has been questionable filtering going on for a long time. There was a time people on twitter were getting suspended for telling "journalists" to learn how to code while ISIS twitter accounts were allowed to exist.

Costco just sent an email with their newest CV19 guidelines:

Have to wear a mask in order to get in & while shopping in the warehouse

Healthcare workers, first responders, firefighters, EMT’s will move to the front of the line & be allowed in first

No seating at the food court....take out only

Normal business hours will resume May 4th, for the warehouse & gas station

To protect their workers & other shoppers, have to stay 6 ft apart

No returns on toilet paper, water & a few other things

Limited purchase of some essential items

At least Costco is trying!!!!!

So healthy people should not wear masks?

I think the problem is that healthy people can pass it on, before they know they have it. sick people, definitely need to be in masks.

and in another case of fork the WHO....last week they accidentally released a report whose source was a Chinese study saying Remdesivir did not work. Today, this came out

And again....nothing is guaranteed at this point and the article does say there is no control, but there kind of is a control. Its called everyone who has a severe case of Covid-19 who doesn't get the drug and the percentage of those that live. Its also worth noting that this is only being given to patients with severe cases

From article:
The clinical trial involved 397 patients with severe cases of Covid-19. The severe study is “single-arm,” meaning it did not evaluate the drug against a control group of patients who didn’t receive the drug.

I haven't seen a really good article on this trial yet. I'm cautiously optimistic, but with no comparison to a control group I will hold off on celebrating.

Pretty sure that was sammymvpknight who talked about the masks not being good for kids because of lower oxygen levels.
Thanks! 👍 I knew I read that somewhere in the hundreds of pages of this thread 😊

Broward finally got under 50 new cases in a day. 39 yesterday.

Dade really ran away with the number of cases.

What is the big deal about wearing a freaking mask? Prudence dictates wearing one, unless you really don't give a flying you-know-what about your fellow human beings. Why can't people understand that it's not a question of protecting yourself from the virus? It's a question of hindering the spread from you, the mask wearer, if you happen to be asymptomatic, from infecting others. It is deeply disturbing that people are so callous, so inconsiderate, so selfish that they can't put on a bandanna or a dust mask to impede this plague from spreading.

The freedom to swing your arm ends with your neighbor's nose. And, if you hit her/his nose, you're probably not 6 feet away. :hihi:
Some people may be “callous, inconsiderate & selfish” however, like I said in an earlier post, imho, it is more a problem of lack of education.

Many Americans do not have the luxury of enjoying & learning from an SR thread like this, on a daily basis.

They are too busy trying to home school their kids, put food on the table while unemployed,
and not strangle their 24/7 spouse, who is on their last nerve. 😊
