I've just about given up on this. We've never really had any great leadership at any level since this started, and from what I see around my general area of home and work, people are being a lot less cautious. So burn it all down I guess. I don't know if I could be more disappointed in people than I am right now.
All I can say is that around here, people are adhering to the guidelines, and I haven't seen any yahoos complaining about losing their freedom, either in this part of Pennsylvania or in Delaware where I ventured earlier today. (Gas at $1.82. ) :D

How is Texas doing? My wife’s coworker that lives in Dallas says there are people everywhere and it’s hard to find anyone with a mask.

My experience has been that some people get it, but most people don't. The masks are hit-or-miss, mostly miss. And this is with the number of cases setting single day records based on testing from before Phase 1 went into effect.

I went into a store for the first time in over a month yesterday. I know the mask issue remains controversial, but few were wearing them. I saw groups of people hugging, having close quarters conversations, no one following the six foot rules, etc.

Every area is different and one anecdote will be different from another, but I was not inspired by what I saw yesterday.

Kinda makes you realize that it is hard to keep an accurate tally in the middle of the battle.

Maybe we could pause the next time someone automatically assigns nefarious motives to other countries that report inaccurate numbers.

Well, I can understand numbers being off, but there is a difference between a data dump, which happens occasionally pretty much anywhere, and deliberately suppressing large numbers of cases and/deaths to try to make your country look better.

If we don't see a dramatic increase in cases and or fatalities in the coming 2 weeks to 2 months.

I don't think anyone really know what it's going to look like. But I'm absolutely convinced if mitigation stops now, we'll see a substantial increase in cases here going forward. I think there are factors that are going to slow the rate of growth, but it's not going to be sustained without continued mitigation.

I agree. I just don’t think any country’s government is above doing both.

Texas is allowing hair salons, barbers and tanning stores to open this Friday. Gyms will be on May 18th. :9:
