Culture change and reset needed (merged) (2 Viewers)

I was one hoping Rizzi would step up and was pulling for him to get the job but I think it’s time for a complete change. We need an entire overhaul of everything from coaching to trainers…just everywhere.

Remember when Sean came in and one of the first things he did was got rid of Wayne Gandys recliner (I think it was Gandy) and just held everyone accountable and took control from day 1. I think we need another changing of the guard, wipe our hands clean and start over.

Tonight’s performance has been one of the worst games I’ve seen from this team in a long time and it’s everyone. Seriously, has there been anything positive to take from this game that I’m missing?
The one glaring difference between the two teams last night, offensively, was the hard-nosed mindset the Packers had. It started with Josh Jacob’s. That dude didn’t take hits, he gave them. and it resonated throughout their offense -fighting through blocks, ducking under a tackler, hitting defenders harder than they Would hit them. Defensively, we have that. But we lack that on offense, and it’s been that way for at least 3-4 years…outside of Taysom. But no one else has that mentality.

I would wager the other 31 franchises are having hit or misses in their draft, what most teams have over us is fielding healthy teams, we've been dealing with health issues since Paytons last year, couple that with the cap issues we've accumulated trying to get the most out of a past his prime Drew Brees last years.
Na the cap issues are an extension of trying to compete with Derek Carr and failing miserably. We have had the injuries offensively but there are no excuses for the defense to be this bad. They are healthy.

He is managing the cap; he has to fill the roster with affordable players; it's not his fault per se when he was the "make it happen Loomis" by SR.com. Now it's "let's get rid of Loomis" when that reign is over.
Managing the cap? What a tremendous job he has done. You are proving the point of Loomis being terrible by managing the worst financial mess in the league for a bad team.

Are cap issues are stemming from the Drew Brees era, not signing Derek Carr two years ago...I wish that was the case then we know we could just release Carr, but this is the "kicking the can down the road method that we have to recover from.

Offense:

The line has had massive investments made to it, and still we underachieve. At Center, we cannot stay healthy. We have a large investment at Right Guard that underachieves. Left Guard is a revolving door. Right Tackle might be able to get things figured out. Left Tackle is the only respectable position there. We need big work on the interior. We are fooled by stunts at every turn. Linebackers run free in our designed power runs and blow plays up in the backfield. The only successful runs we have are out of draw plays. High to mid round draft target.

At RB I believe we have talent with Kamala and Miller. We need to lose Williams and upgrade from Mims. Mid round draft target.

We still have a weak WR room when healthy. Olave is good, not elite. Shaheed is fast, but not a complete receiver; he has no business being our #2 unless he develops further. We desperately need a true #1 here. High round draft target.

No need to rehash this all out. 2025 will be the last year with Carr and we need to draft our future here. High round draft target.

Defense:

This defensive line is missing a pass rushing specialist in the worst way. I do not believe Young is the answer here, at least not on his own. We missed badly with Turner and Foskey here. Cam is done. High round draft target.

At linebacker we need probably two new pieces, one to replace Davis and one to round out the group. Stud LBs on other teams seem to get drafted in round 2 and we need one of those going forward.

At Cornerback we might be ok. Kool-aid is young and appears promising. We will likely need to keep Adebo and Taylor to round out the top three. Amadi and Jean-Charles have potential. We will need to see how this group shakes out.

At safety we need a replacement for Mathieu. I hope Howden can continue to develop to be an NFL starter but this position is too important to see it as anything other than a place for a high round draft pick investment.

By my estimation, we need about 6 picks in the first two rounds to shore up critical deficiencies on this team and get us to "competitive" again. That's three years of "don't miss" drafting.

Just becuse a GM is a football guy does not mean he'll be a good one. Matt Millen has an extensive football background and was maybe one of the worst GMs of all time. The best quality a GM can have is finding the right guy to hire as HC and giving him all he needs to succeed
Obviously. What is Loomis’ track record other than hitting on Payton and Brees? Blind Squirrels can find nuts too.

What the good GM also needs is ability to say “no” and push back on dumb ideas. Loomis didn’t ever seem to do much of any of that. Sure seem like he rolled over for whatever Payton wanted to do, and a lot of outside the offense was bad decisions.

I mean apparently Dennis Allen wanted DeShaun Watson and Loomis was like “yessir” and out there trying to make it happen. Thank god that didn’t transpire.

Loomis has great skills as an NFl admin, cap/contracts guy. We need a fresh perspective on football decisions. And yes it’s no guarantee you hit the jackpot on that.

It's not just missing playoffs it's the overall direction of the franchise. Do you think fans will continue to sell out the 60 year old superdome year in year out if this is the product they're putting out on the field?

Fan interest will wane and the vultures will start circling
The Dome was opened in 1975; it’s 49 years old.

They were taking it to us. It was embarrassing.

He doesn’t coach and our whole team is hurt. I’m not sure people realize what a GM does
Passing on a opportunity to get the salary cap right and go into a soft rebuild in 2021 while taking a swing on a franchise QB instead of dig a deeper hole after 2022/2023 and was 100% on Loomis.

Now we are going into rebuild by force and it's going to take years to get out.

We had 15+ years of success and now have to rebuild but we had enough talent to try and make the most of it. Injuries have crippled us and not necessarily because other teams aren’t dealing with similar situations but because we’ve had backups that could start on many teams. Now we’re starting backups that probably aren’t worth being even backups. But that’s what happens when you rebuild

Culture? If I had a dollar for every time I've heard Loomis say that word.. didn't you know? He thinks our culture is among the best!

Reality: Drew and Sean built outstanding culture, and Loomis completely ruined it in less than 3 years.

I honestly still think the culture continuity is salvageable. We just had the wrong guy doing it in Allen…he was a fraud.

Really thorough analysis. 👍

We need the right guy, and it's still going to take some work to rebuild it. We need the young vets on this roster to step up and buy in. If you're relying on Cam, Demario, or Mathieu - we are in trouble. On offense we have McCoy and Alvin (who I think can still contribute for a while), but this defense needs new leaders.

We have 3/5 of an offensive line and 1/5 of that has been a problem since training camp

We have zero WRs. Sorry, but Olave is complimentary. Shaheed if he comes back, and that’s a big if, is your one dimensional speed guy. We have no big possession receiver. We have no reliable TE. Without that we have no quick out to save the QB’s butt when the pressure comes. (See 3/5 of an offensive line)

Kamara is a great change of pace back, but we have no dominant runner. Don’t say Miller. He is not

We have no quickly DE and 1 good DT

Our starting safety is losing a battle with Father Time.

We have a QB that does great when everything goes well, a to be FA next year and a guy who just got embarrassingly shut out.

Loomis deserves a bunch of credit for this, as does the scouting department and whoever is choosing the talent. We have a great team for the underwear Olympics. And a real marginal one of football players when it comes to drafting.

As far as setting the stage, coaching, getting the team ready, that’s in training camp. Rizzi is simply crisis management so I don’t really blame this mess on him.
