Current Saints 53 man roster after cuts (1 Viewer)

Saldiveri making it over Hergel is hard to make sense of. A guy who's injured and hasn't played in two seasons versus a guy who looked really good a guard and center during the preseason.
Man, I did a WHOLE thread on Hergel today only to find out he’d been cut!!!

🫣🫣🫣

But I’m confident he’s gonna come back on the practice squad!

As per usual... really awesome work here today, @SonOfNOLA with all of the reports. :9:

I slept until almost noon. I was like "Oh No!" Imagine how relieved I was seeing that you were taking care of business here! :)

Historically, 9 seems like the normal number the Saints carry to start the season. Seems like they must be going to bring in someone.

Ha! Those are the past 4 years. I was looking at the trend of OL on the initial 53 man roster each season.

We can't go into the season with 8 olinemen can we?

Historically, 9 seems like the normal number the Saints carry to start the season. Seems like they must be going to bring in someone.

They could roll with just 8 linemen on the 53.

That's a bit light but if they carry an extra lineman or two on the practice squad that could round out the unit but then the PS players are exposed to being poached.

One thing to keep in mind is that if a team has at least 8 linemen active on gameday they get an extra roster spot. That's a freebie and a must whether needed or not.

I was sure pulling for Samson Nacua to make it to the 53~! Maybe it's because I know his brothers are playing NFL and UFL and I KNOW Samson would bring it TOUGH every play and knows how to block downfield ? He may be on our PS ? I just believe in him and don't know much about Wilson or Tipton......Anyone have thoughts on this? I "felt" he would have been a LOCK........( wonder if he hadn't been pushed out at the 2 on that short field goal run????)

Why are Turner and Fosky still on our team? I don’t understand. Both seem like dead weight. What has Turner done to deserve a spot? Seems like wasted dough to me. I hope they both prove me wrong but I’m just going off what I have seen this preseason which was a big 0.
In Turner’s defense he’s been a big zero for many years now lol.

All kidding aside, Turner will be gone after this season. I think Foskey will be too if he doesn’t show some growth this season. Meaning he won’t make the team next season.

Pretty bad roster honestly. Just QB, CB and LB are good as whole units
RB and DE are also strong units. Kamara and Taysom only between the two of them makes their position very dynamic in the backfield. They’ll likely be 2 of our top 3 productive offensive players as RBs/HBs this season.

DE is a deep group of Granderson, Young, Jordan, and Turner. Granderson and Young are going to have a huge impact in pass rush. Cam Jordan still provides very meaningful snaps as a run defender. At this stage, Cam is an average pass rusher as a full time starting DE but above average-good rusher as DE3. Turner is a good 4th DE. Regardless of injury history, Turner has shown talent and can be impactful as the 4th guy plus upside. The top 3 DEs Carl, Chase and Cam are strong without including Payton Turner.

Majority of other positions are more unknown or average than bad. Only positions that could be truly considered bad is the overall OL depth after Udoh. I think we’ll add a quality depth OL ahead of the Week 1 game.
