Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups (1 Viewer)

So I executed step one of my plan last night. Bought a Motorola sb6141 modem and set it up last night. Had issues at first and called CableOne. I was on the line with the technician for over an hour and he finally said the modem must be bad. So of course I'm not very happy and skeptical of his abilities. As I'm reluctantly packing the modem back up, there is a number for Motorola customer service. Within 15 minutes, he has me up and running. However, I still need to call CableOne back since I'm getting their registration page in my browser. The second technician I speak with sets me up and now it's time to bring back the rented CableOne modem. Getting closer to cutting the cord. Next step is an antenna.

Check out Radio Shack for the antenna.

I bought a roku3 today. So far I'm pretty impressed. It's also letting me watch HBO Go and Showtime. Obviously I kept my internet and perhaps that's why - I'm sure they'll figure it out in time.

Roku rocks

Question about the antenna. I'm in Biloxi and according to the fcc website for signal strength, it shows me getting 3 channels with a strong signal, 1 channel at moderate, and 13 with a weak signal. Will it even matter to get an outdoor antenna since it probably won't pick up the channels with a weak signal? Should I just go with an indoor antenna to pick up the 4 strong/moderate signal channels?

I think chromecast will do what you are looking for (stream the contents of a browser to the TV wirelessly). Apple can do something similar with Apple TV and either a Mac or iPad.

Apple TV works with any computer. My son has no other Apple products except for two Apple TV units and he uses them instead of cable.

I'm not technically savvy enough to answer your question, but my common sense tells me that I want the strongest antenna possible and then work from there.

I personally bought an outdoor antenna and mounted it in the attic space.
I then used the 8 output splitter DirecTv supplied and feed all of my TV's with that one antenna.

Good to know, thanks.

Ok. So if I get the Roku box, how would I be able to watch it in multiple rooms? Get the box for the main TV and the USB drives for the other 2 TVs? Anyone?

What are the USB drives? I think you would want 1 Roku per TV.

Well, I know Roku has it to where you can either get the box (there are 3 choices) or the stick like Chromecast or Amazon Fire TV stick. I was thinking maybe get the box for the main TV and the sticks for the other 2. Would that be ok or should I just get a box for each TV?

The sticks would probably work - I haven't looked into those. It will probably depend on whether your wireless signal is strong enough and whether they can support different streams on each TV (as opposed to just projecting the same content to all TVs).
