Dan Orlovsky about the saints and Kellen Moore (14 Viewers)

I'm glad the guy that ran out of the end zone is critiquing individuals about growth

Some of the smartest people in the game and smartest people to listen to are failed and/or backup type NFL QBs.

Kind of like the most revered HC in our franchise’s history, and the guy we may be now trying to hire as our HC currently.

I'm not on board with giving anyone more than 2 years without a playoff appearance. If that's what we need, just hire the interim guy and fire him after we've cleaned things up.
It's not that we even have to give them that. It's what it's going to take because of the state of the roster and the fact that there are players they HAVE to keep. Our next coach is inheriting a far worse roster than the one DA got. Putting that on any coach is giving the front office a pass on their responsibility for the roster they are handing over.

I mean Sean Payton went 3 years without one right before our big run in 2017. It takes time to fix things.

Hiring an interim guy just to clean things up and then fire them is real messed up. What if our next coach changes scheme and our draft picks over 2-3 years don't fit it? As long as we're making progress I'm good with 3-4 years.

I understand, but you still need a metric of progress. You can't give a coach a pass for two years and say it doesn't matter what the record is. Of course, I think the FO needs to be blown up as well, but I don't think anyone expects Mick to do that.

That was after winning a ring; he earned the benefit of the doubt at that point. He was in the conference championship his first year.

Two teams did it this year. It doesn't mean it's right, but it happens. Mayo was supposed to be the chosen one, and Kraft dropped him without a second thought. What does progress look like? I don't want another Allen situation with Mick saying don't look at the record.

honestly, with the current make up and financial situation of the roster, i recommend they re-up with rizzi for one more year. i think rizzi would be up for the challenge knowing he probably won't make it past another year. just give him a huge 1 year contract to make sure it is worht it for him. who knows he might surprise us. next year we'll be in a much better situation. we can cut bait with derek carr, an aging roster, and have plenty of cap space.
