[Deleted X post] Rizzi’s interview was impressive per Nick Underhill (124 Viewers)

He hires Rizzi, he is going out the door with him in 12 months. Promoting an interim coach, never really works. Its only happened a handful of times and most, if not all of them, have ended in a bad way. But also, history says promoting an interim to HC - that HC is on a shorter timeline than external hires. So Rizzi goes 4-13, he is gone and Im not sure Loomis can possibly survive 2 coaching hire duds in 4 years. To that end, Im all for it.

We are building towards 2026 and beyond. Id be perfectly fine with these lame ducks being the loss sponges in 2025 and ushering in a new era with a new GM and new HC to go with our better looking cap and probably top 5 draft pick in 26.

I cant think of too many instances where players having too much of a say in a HC hire ended up being a good thing.

Rizzi is interviewing for our HC position, and on the radar as a special teams coach in Denver and Chicago. Let that sink in.

He interviewed for the Jets HC position.

Except that the things that he should have been able to improve on like undisciplined penalties and effort in the 2nd half of games, didn't.
You have to give him a full season to build his off-season/in-season program. There was only so much he could improve on working within the constraints of Allen's program.

They couldn't scrap everything they were doing mid-season.

Nothing against Rizzi, I think he did fine in a tough situation but mostly exposed what an incredible trainwreck DA was.....I don't want him to be the next Saints HC, I think there are better candidates out there. I want an offensive mind that can take care of that side of the ball and attract a good DC....

I just really don't want ANYONE connected to the last several years on the staff including Loomis. They have to change the room. They have to change the culture. Bite the bullet on the cap. The Saints need 20+ rookies on the roster next year like the Rams. Rizzi is not worthy of being a Head Coach in the NFL. He looked like a rabid deer in the headlights on the sideline. He brings NOTHING special to the table.

I’d be curious to know how this conclusion could have possibly been drawn.

Perhaps Glenn was his own personal preference and maybe HE had no backup plan for who to root for now. 😂
Lol

I’ll admit, Rizzi does seem like he commands a locker room, and he definitely knows how to “coach speak”. However, I just think this team needs an overhaul. Like as in, no player will feel comfortable with their spot on the roster. That goes for everyone. There’s only one way to make that happen and that is to put them all in an uncomfortable situation.

Im with you.

If Im going to argue for Rizzi, is that we can fire him next season and Loomis will probably go with him. I dont think we are in a position to compete in 2025. So is it better to let Rizzi take the L's, clean the cap and the roster, develop younger guys, and fire both him and Loomis after next season so that 2026 we start fresh in every sense of the word.....

As opposed to hiring a new HC like Brady or whoever, and having them slog through the 2025 season?

If you believe 2025 is a rebuild year, Rizzi might be your guy. He wont be given the same timeline as a Brady or Kafka, etc.
