[Deleted X post] Rizzi’s interview was impressive per Nick Underhill (2 Viewers)

Random Shower thought of the day:

For how much money goes through the NFL and each team being run like an “Organization”, there sure are a ton of emotional knee jerk decisions made that end up costing tons of money without guarantees that it will ever be effective. Just comparing NFL teams to actual Business organizations for a second, how often is a billion dollar corporation letting the CFO go after a year of work and a little bit of a down year.

NFL really is wild y’all

Nick Underhill deleted his X post about Rizzi’s interview being impressive. It may have been due to overreactions from X users’ replies thinking it was posted to imply that it automatically means Rizzi is close to being the hire, like the replies in the thread.

You have to give him a full season to build his off-season/in-season program. There was only so much he could improve on working within the constraints of Allen's program.

They couldn't scrap everything they were doing mid-season.

Agreed. But there are still some things you'd expect to improve on if he were an upper-level HC that didn't. Let's say we could clone a 2005 Payton, before he got to the Saints. If the Saints made Clone-Payton the interim HC instead of Rizzi, would they still have finished with a 3-5 record? I think not.

That should be the standard. If you want pretty good, just get McCarthy.

Nick does this at least 3x a week. I don't engage on Twitter but I have his notifications on for Saints purposes. Fairly regularly I'll see a tweet from Nick, and I open it, and it's gone.

I feel his pain. Our fanbase has become annoyingly negative about EVERYTHING. Saints Twitter is almost unbearable. Petulance everywhere.

“Oh you did average work managing accounts receivable two years in a row but I wanted you to be the BEST in the field…you’re fired!” 😂

Billion dollar corporations separate from millionaire CEOs all the time and often quickly if there are more than a couple of bad quarters in a row.

There is not as much “look beyond the results” talk when the results are lack of dividends for preferred shareholders.

On one hand the players advocating for a HC is how we ended up with DA.

OTOH, I really don’t think Rizzi got a fair shake. He took over a team built in DA’s eyes, and he could just change small things. I’m curious how it would look if he were able to mold the team into his vision.
A fair shake? He got to audition as a HC in the NFL. Very fair. He is not a HC though. So it was all fair.

Yep the two most respected vets on the team just decide simultaneously to tweet out support for Rizzi.

Nothing suspicious about that at all. :cautious:

Perhaps they caught wind of what is (likely) going down, and in a last act of desperation are now making their feelings known of who they’d prefer.

Im warming up to Rizzi, for all the wrong reasons.

If Loomis hires Rizzi, there is no redeeming him. Loomis has to go when Rizzi goes. I just hope its pump and dump with Rizzi. He is an interim, if he is hired as HC and bombs.....we can let him go after a season and not take much flack for it.

2nd, Id rather not ruin a new HC with the disaster 2025 is going to be. Let Rizzi take the Ls, fire him and Loomis after the 2025 season.

Underhill is a megaphone. He doesnt care what the fans think. He cares what Loomis thinks.

1 of 2 things happened.

1) He got info from the Saints FO that Rizzis interview went well, and they wanted to keep it under wraps. So they contacted him about it and he deleted it. They want full control over how they decide to disappoint the entire fanbase except 3 people about Rizzi.

2) He worded the tweet in a way that brought too much.....'this is happening'.....to the discussion, so he deleted it.

Either directly or indirectly, he was acting on how the FO did or would perceive it, and nothing to do with the comments.

No one is going to be happy with Rizzi. He knows it. Loomis knows it. But Loomis has a real penchant for wanting to defy logic and look like the smartest guy in the room. I see this being no different.

He very much cares. He's gone on rants before about it. It's a big reason why he's trying to use his site to help build a community so he doesn't have to interact with Twitter as much.

With each passing day it looks like Rizzi will be the guy to officially sign on as our new head coach for the next few seasons (at least).
Frankly I won't pretend to know any of the candidates and I don't want to judge Rizzi negatively based solely on what we saw for the last 8 games of 2024. An interim head coach is never going to make all of his desired moves that he will once the job is officially his. Most fans are simply worried that Rizzi may be the 'easy way out' for Loomis and that Darren may not be the best choice available for the Saints. But we really can't know that. All that we can do as fans is to hope that Mickey really has done his homework and truly sees Rizzi as the best choice to lead the Saints to some winning season and some championships. True, Rizzi may not be the best choice. But I don't want to automatically assume that things are going to continue to go bad if he ends up being named the new guy in a few weeks. Personally I feel that if he gives the best interview and the players like this 'bird in the hand', I'll just go with it and hope that he becomes the kind of head coach that we really need.
