[Deleted X post] Rizzi’s interview was impressive per Nick Underhill (1 Viewer)

Rizzi's whole thing is a big personality, I would hope his interview was impressive

F, marry, kill: Mickey Loomis, Sydney Sweeney, Wilmont Perry?

Entirely different scenario. They also got who they wanted.

Promoting someone from the inside is different than outside of the org.
Definitely not different. They were an NFL team that went into a coaching search with one candidate. Now if you want to argue that it wasn't a search, then I can agree. But they have had exactly zero in person interviews after firing DA months ago and had two Rooney rule interviews scheduled for the day before Glenn was supposed to arrive. Which is a few days after he was eligible to do an in person interview.

Thoughts from Shanle:

It definitely is different. DA was already in our system for years and had the handshake deal before we traded SP. There unfortunately was no real HC search that year.

That's entirely different than putting your eggs in one basket on a coach who is not apart of the team.

There was 100% guarantee DA was talking the job before it was open. There is a 0% guarantee Glenn wants anything to do with us.

Nicks doing damage control for the front office.
I think he may have jumped the gun a little.

This is the second consecutive process that Loomis has (potentially) selected the internal candidate. Articles stating how impressive the internal candidate was BEFORE the minority candidates check the box do not help.

Exposes the organization to the risk of: the hire was made before I interviewed (see B. Flores accusations).

They probably asked him to take it down, go play in the snow, and start the campaign next week.

But there is certainly a chance that the team thought Glenn would take the job due to his history with the team and that they didn't really have a backup plan if that didn't happen. That the Jets are getting in the way could end up leaving us choosing between coaches we didn't really want and never planned to hire. Or maybe the backup plan has always been Rizzi. Regardless, it's at least plausible and the brother of a current Saints player seems to see it that way and I don't think he's wrong to make the speculation. We may never really know, but it'll be telling by who they ultimately choose.

I will actively root against everything saints if we go hire Rizzi. Hire me, I’ll be cheaper

If it’s Rizzi I’ll look forward to another top 10 draft pick next year that probably wouldn’t help us enough to be relevant.

I’d personally love to eat some crow on that, but even picking top 15 I’ll still give a *whoopty doo* gesture.

On one hand the players advocating for a HC is how we ended up with DA.

OTOH, I really don’t think Rizzi got a fair shake. He took over a team built in DA’s eyes, and he could just change small things. I’m curious how it would look if he were able to mold the team into his vision.
Watching Rizzi appear clueless in game situations on the sidelines showed me enough. He is a very good coordinator, but clearly not cut out to be a head coach. He has a ST mentality as well.

It’s the cheapest option. They can likely give him a three year deal and save some money by not firing as many staff members. Definitely not the most exciting option.
Well, it might mean that we’ll be in Arch’s zip code. You got to crawl before you can walk. Not a Rizzi fan.Good personality but would have to see OC and DC. If he kept the guys in house it’s a hard NO.
