Dennis Allen chewing out Isaiah Foskey (2 Viewers)

On paper. I really want to see it in person. Bresee should be expected tobe a non-factor for a bit of the season as he acclimates.

I think Jaylen Smith as a rusher/Blitzer should be included as well .

A lot of uncertain working parts have to come together and get an identity up.

If Smith and Tanoh can make us 6 deep. I would feel a bit more comfortable.
Saunders showed some ability to rush from the interior tonight. He had a sack in the Super Bowl, too.

Maybe Foskey has a future in special teams🤷‍♂️. Back in 96 we drafted a safety named Je’Rod Cherry out of Cal in the 2nd round. He was a garbage safety but excelled as a gunner. Least we got some use out of him.

A lot of the uncertainty comes from lack of playing time. That isn’t Granderson’s fault while the team prioritized Davenport, who Granderson outplayed last year.

He projects to be a 7-8 sack DE, at minimum, on full time/expanded snaps based on ‘22. If we can avg 8 sacks a piece between the top DEs Cam, CG, and Turner like we should, that’s a solid foundation for the rest of the pass rush to be successful.

Also going to mention a Bill Belichick quote I read recently. He said sacks are the most overrated stat in football. He said if you get 4 sacks out of 4 pressures, but the rest of the game the QB has time to throw, you're likely getting carved up on D. He said consistent pressure is way more important b/c it forces incompletions, interceptions...

A great example of this is when we beat Derek Carr and the Raiders last year. I forget our sack total but it wasn't high. But we absolutely harassed and pressured Carr all game and he made bad throws b/c of it.

Foskey’s RAS was almost identical to Marcus Davenport’s. And Foskey actually had success at the college level where Davenport was more of a question mark. I understand why they drafted Foskey high. He just needs to put in the work and stop acting like he made it when he signed that contract.

He kinda hasn’t. Was more of a standup LB for Notre Dame
Saints have been very meidiocre in drafts for the last 5 years. Jeff is NOT the answer! zwe have survived because of Drew, UDFAs and old vets. Look at 2018 0n, Horrible!

Looking back at Isiah college stat sheet... He really played against creampuffs. He would disappear a lot.
Yeah, remember anytime they played BAMA. I would never draft ND players, just like the Pac 12. Overrated!. Kelly knew-LSU has Hoss's, but not toss custard Laude

Agreed. Just in a general sense if they’re totaling 24 min. between the 3 of them, they’re making definite impact plays on the game and also bringing in pressures with those.

Cam, CG, and Turner doesn’t come off as empty sack DEs. It’s been the opposite where they generate pressures but can’t finish it off as sacks a lot of times.

I will be happy to bet you they will not put him on the practice squad. If it happens, by all means come back to this thread and dunk on me. I'll allow it.

The worst case scenario for him is he ends up a Stanley Jean Baptiste where he's a healthy inactive throughout the season.
Ill bet u a $100, no practice squad, but still a horrible pick!

I'm not saying the dude's going to be Cam, but people are seriously kidding themselves if they think he's going on the practice squad.

2 games into a preseason is not enough time to condemn Foskey to complete disaster nor is it enough time to anoint Haener as a first-team All-Pro. You may end up being right, but I don't get people forming definitive opinions about a rookie's entire career trajectory after 2 preseason games.
