Dennis Allen confirms that Mickey Loomis was not in favor of firing him after Panthers loss (2 Viewers)

Missed placed loyalty is a hell of a drug.

Ms Gayle has an 8 billion dollar franchise to protect. With a heavy investment in surrounding superdome properties. She isn't going to let Mickey pick the next coach. And I bet Mickey has already been told as much.

It wasn't my comment but regardless, the contrast between the 2021 and 2022 seasons was enough for me to see that DA was in over his head.....he should have been fired after 2022.....but life goes on, hopefully we select a good younger HC that will be here a while.....
I never said that DA should not have been fired and by all indications that would have happened at the end of the season

Well, if SP was our OC (which we all know he was), then DA should’ve brought in another OC from the beginning. Not hand the keys to the car, to a guy who still drives with a permit, and no license. He doubled down by keeping him for another year.
He wanted to he offered the job to Liam Coen even without doing an interview but was turned down that was before even offering it to PC

Another strike against Mick. Your non-football elderly owner had to make a call that everyone in the league knew needed to happen, probably last year. A person who cannot admit their wrong or own limitations is a terrible person to be leading the coaching search. How anyone can trust Mick at this point is beyond comprehension.
If true and Mrs B had to go over Mickey Mouse’s head, then Loomis should not have any part in hiring the next coach! This is going to be the most important HC hiring for the Saints and I don’t think Loomis can be unbiased!

Trust this he is not gonna fade away he will be on the staff in Denver next season he won’t be DC but maybe back to his bread and butter coaching DB’s
I don't doubt it but that's a pretty big fall from grace. HC to position coach in less than a year. I think he gets a shot next year as a DC somewhere if he wants it.

He may well get on as a DC, the Panthers are a good landing spot for him they are a divisional foe and were last across the board in defense (except for passing and red zone they finished 23rd and 29th).

The broncos dominate on defense already and it will be telling if SP finds a spot for him, they weren’t in the top 10 in pass defense and that is DA’s bread and butter. I am curious to know just how serious Payton was about wanting to come back after his year off. If that was his intent perhaps DA not stepping aside caused some friction in their relationship.

i believe people are making way too much of comments made by mickey about dennis allen. mickey is not wrong about anything he's said about the dennis allen situation. Many of you are fools to not take the actual team to task for quitting during the year. None of this take means dennis allen should not have been fired later in the season in a more respectable manner or anything. Rizzi was always fools gold. Our injury situations are not dennis' fault and have absolutely crushed his tenure here.
Our soft tissue injury problems are mostly his fault. As Mathieu ranted about, dude ran soft practices, 35 plays at walkthrough speed. The Cardinals for example would go through 200 plays at full speed. It had guys not prepared physically and mentally which led to pulled hammys and missed tackles.

Dang. Didn’t work out for the Cards either. I want to run the practices that Dan Campbell runs.

Hope this is true, we will see....

Why do you keep bringing this up? The point is moot.....all indications are just hearsay....it doesn't matter because the team had already quit on DA midway through the season, any idea how ugly it would've gotten had ML had his way and retained DA for the rest of the season? It would have been a total shirtshow......thankfully Gayle realized this and acted....hopefully she does the right thing and take ML out of the decision on the new HC....

What is common knowledge is that ML nor Tom Benson were ever in favor of firing a HC MID-SEASON. It's been reported by Underhill that he thought that ML was going to fire DA at the end of the season. Yes DA needed to go. Looking back just what did firing DA mid-season accomplish? All it did was give Rizzi and maybe Brian Young an audition. Woods was abysmal as DC. The D played worse after DA left except in the 1st game or so.

The going over ML's head is kind of exaggerated. ML said himself that they came to a consensus on firing DA , not this fantasy that Mrs B. came in like a stormtrooper and demanded DA be fired on the spot. Firing DA mid-season really accomplished little, he would have been gone on black Monday
I would agree with you that Loomis would’ve fired him post season, but not with the part where you said it didn’t accomplish anything. It’s 100% the more professional and classy move to fire him after all is said and done, but when looking at it from outside of a win-loss and Xs and Os perspective, the move midseason let the fans know that their voice matters, and I think that’s important.

Now obviously if any small market team is safe from losing its fan base the Saints are one of them, so it’s not like it was a desperation move to save the connection the team has with the city or anything, but it’s been a long hard road for fans since Drew’s last season and then Payton leaving. The fans needed to feel like they had done something that helped the team, and the only thing that could be done was letting go of the guy the majority of fans blamed it on. I sort of feel like it was a way of apologizing to the city and letting them know that they’re still fighting and trying to find a way to win.
