Dennis Allen Post Game Press Conference (1 Viewer)

Was asked about onside kick

Said "look we really couldn't stop them so we thought onside, I thought onside kick was the right call" (I'm paraphrasing)

Basically had zero confidence in our D. Zero.
He should fire the guy in charge of the defense if he has that little confidence. I would fully support him doing that.

The fact that the team goes into every game fearful, is taking on head coaches personality, I say fearful, because they seem like they are feeling the other team out first before they decide to play. If they feel the other team is playing harder, then they fold. And they don’t want to win. You can tell this is true, because once they back into a position where they can take a lead or assert themselves, they shoot themselves in the foot. Taking sacks. Dropping key passes, 87, 83, 12. Making decisions based off of fear, onside kicks, punting in Fg position. Keeping players out of the game that do not fold, 80. Only being able to make plays after the outcome has been decided. It takes courage to win. And fearfulness is like a plague, that spreads. And it’s the coaches job to identify team plagues. But it’s clear that the HC is the carrier of such plague. Im just calling what I’m seeing.

He says "I thought", or "I think" waaaaay to much. For crying out load your the flipping leader, your supposed to know not think. If your in a leadership position, people are looking to you to know not think.

His public speaking is horrid.

It's really hard to listen to because his speaking exudes low confidence.

Like his coaching.

It's a really hard presser to get thru.

I said this here early last year and I got absolutely hammered for it.

It is most certainly a leadership trait to be able to speak clearly and confidently and this trait is one that he just does not possess. You hear a guy stutter, ramble, use “uhh” every other sentence, sound scared or like you don’t know where your thoughts are going, etc…that stuff all matters when you’re talking about someone in charge of a NFL locker room full of lifelong alpha males.

When that trait isn’t possessed, it manifests itself in other ways that exhibit poor leadership.

It was the first sign of many for me that this guy just doesn’t have the “it” factor, and that was the first telltale sign for me that Amy Trask knew what she was talking about when she made her “And I’ll use the word ‘leadership’ loosely” comment back when he got hired here.

I like most of us would jump for joy if DA was fired tomorrow. But He was pretty accurate on his assessment of DC. He played a decent to pretty good game. He said that he's sure he wish he had some plays back and I'm sure he does. DC made some really good throws and a couple ones that were not. Olave's drops were CRITICAL. Changed the whole game.
This game was mostly on DA's decisions and poor play by the D , also DA's fault
I agree. Been out the Carr most of the season but he played well last night. We are just over the season and so now DA, PC, and DC are a package deal. One isn’t doing something right, they all suck in our mind.

This was a game where DA thought he would get cute and try his best impersonation of Sean. Problem is, he doesn’t get the team fired up and put in their best position to succeed on the cute plays like Sean could (most of the time).

One thing that was different about our team in the last 2 games was we kept our coaching and our situational calls within our abilities and DC got rid of the ball quicker. Well, DC mostly kept throwing the ball where he needed to and still got it out quick, but the in game coaching sucked. Olave drops came at the worst time and we, yet again, get down 20 points and this team isn’t built for that. The Saints are 0-5 when down 10 points at half this year. Well, who the hell has a team down by 10 points that many times at the half in a season? DA. And that’s a fireable offense.

Ultimately, this is now up to Loomis to act on. Allen is not up to the job (never was) and if the GM won’t address it he needs to go too. Loomis’ shelf life has also expired as a leader.

Allen simply needs to go or the wheels will fully come off. Carmichael too. And, really, I do think time really is up on Loomis, but tricky to see how that happens given the ownership structure.

Relatively bleak outlook.

This team is exactly what we thought, Meh talent, Meh coaching, Meh preparation, Meh motivation.

They need to knock the next draft out of the park, we're woefully thin on talent, especially the O-line... AND STOP TRADING UP IN THE FIRST ROUND FOR BUSTS!
We also don't have any 3rd or 4th round picks, but hey no worries we'll just trade the next year's picks for some more busts. DA got to go and Loomis for putting us in this crap position. Had we started a real rebuild we would be a year away, now it feels like we are light-years away.

There is no quicker way to lose me in a conversation than to constantly say “uh”, “like” and “you know” multiple times during a conversation. My mind goes from what you are trying to communicate, to counting how often I hear those words come out of your mouth.
This is ALL I hear! "Ummm ya know umm ya know umm umm well look umm you know."

After last weeks win against the Giants Dennis Allen made it a point to go out of his way to praise Derek Carr’s great performance (which it was). While well deserved, it was a bit odd as nobody in the press asked for that opinion, and DA really forced the point.

Does anyone know if DA has gone out of his way in the press conference to discuss Derek’s performance tonight? It seems only right that he would make a point to discuss DC’s performance good, bad, or neutral at this point.
Looks like he taken the below Lombardi approach, W/o results, I agree it would nice to have that insight,

“Praise in public; criticize in private.”

— Vince Lombardi
