Does Letting DA Go Make THIS Much Difference Or Was It Also a Function of (1 Viewer)

there’s a certain level of natural leadership and such that Allen didn’t have. Some people are, and some people are not. My wife is a natural leader. She gets in front of people and people know who’s the boss, yet even with the massive structure and discipline she brings, the whole amount of how makes people feel like they can run through the wall. Me I get up in front of a room or group of people and I simply do not have it.

Does letting DA go make THIS much difference or was this simply a function of playing a divisional opponent and at terrible team at the right time? Coach Rizzi beat the division leading Falcons in a nail-biter, and then smokes the Browns. We haven't scored at least 35 points since week 2.

I am legitimately curious as to everyone's take on this. Obviously DA being let go makes a difference but the team looks enthused and competent. I know Taysom Hill being back healthy was a huge factor as well.

Not for nothing but the most Saints thing to do will be to go on a fantastic run and be on the outside looking in by 1 game. And we'll look back at ALLLL of the one score games we could have (possibly should have one) the Panthers one probably stinging the most. However, the other side of that coin is without that loss, maybe we don't move on from DA and take even longer to get back on track.
The Rams aren't world-beaters, but they aren't the Failclowns or the Browns either.

We'll know in 12 days whether this team really has something, or if it's just smoke and mirrors.

If he was as depressing in the locker room as he was to watch on TV talking about woodshedding and playing better, etc, then it's no wonder the players quit trying. They probably made fun of him when he was not around. "Yo, Cam, let's go do some woodshedding!"

They did. The mocked him just as fans did, seriously.

Let’s call it what it is, DA has top 3 worst coaching record in NFL history
Sorry. Not even remotely true. That said I freely admit his tenure here was abysmal, just not top 10 historically bad.

What I think you're referring to is that CDA was the 3rd worst active coach at the beginning of this season. He was succeeded at "worstness" (chuckle) by Eberflous and Gannon to start the year (see link 1).

But there have been many worse than him throughout NFL history. I don't want to do the work to see where he actually lands but link 2 shows the worst 13, by record, in real NFL history and CDA isn't on the list.

DA is #16 all time worst by winning percentage and had the worst percentage among active coaches at the time of his firing (.329). He's worse than Romeo Crennel or Robert Saleh or June Jones. Had we not fired him he would've surely dropped further.

There have been 201 NFL head coaches all time, so he's in the bottom 8%

Raheem Morris is the current active "leader" with .386 but he's got a winning record this year (for now lol).

IMHO as happy as we may be with two wins and no DA, neither Rizzi nor Mickey Loomis should be anointed for a permanent stay going forward after this season.

The ultimate goal should not to be slightly better than the Atlanta Falcons and the Tampa Bay Bucs. It should be to get back to winning the Super Bowl. And that requires that a team, in addition to having the start align, hires the best available GM and head coach from the overall pool of candidates league wide. The odds that the best GM and head coach were already in the building on a 2-7 team seem remote. Hiring only people you are friends with or already work with is a mistake if you want to win a championship.
Agree with most everything you said, except the Rizzi part of the first sentence. ML has failed miserably since CSP left, IMO, and needs to go. But Rizzi is still taking the test. I'm not expecting Rizzi to run the table at 8-0 and enter the playoffs, but IF he did, you gotta give the guy the job. I like what I've seen from him, and the team so far, but it's only 2 games. Let's see how he does for the rest of the exam. If he figures out how to elevate this team and go 6-2 or better, you can't let him out of the building, and I think he'll have officially earned the spot. I'm not ready to give it to him, but I haven't written him off as "Interim" only. JMO...

And we gave up 900 yards on defense but by sheer luck only gave up 31 points. I still think coaching is overrated as far as being the difference between winning and losing in this league. I would bet that Rizzi loses both games without Taysom Hill.
Yeah but saying that we lose both games without TH is like saying if we had McCoy and half our injured players we don't lose 7 straight. Or if we don't have TH and have Olave and Shaheed. Or what if we have Adebo and Latt?

What's most disappointing to me is the GM of the team didn't have his finger on the pulse of things and it took the Owner doing due diligence behind the scenes to correct things.

Gayle was right and Mickey was wrong. In this situation, that's not good. And I've been a Loomis fan for a long time ...
I wish people would stop this Mrs.B came in all roughshod and forced ML to fire DA and wouldn't take no for an answer narrative. Underhill reported that he thought ML would fire DA at the end of the season. Even ML said it was not like that, here's the quote." When asked if that means the decision was made primarily by owner Gayle Benson, Loomis said, “No, I’m not gonna say that. It was an organization decision.”
The ONLY thing that ML maybe disagreed with was firing him MID-SEASON.

Underhill said that even if DA beat the Panthers, Gayle was still firing him on Monday. Also, Lovie Smith got fired after winning the last game of the year which also gave them the 2nd overall pick instead of the 1st.
Underhill said there were rumors of DA getting fired before the Panthers game. Smith got fired because of the season. DA didn't get fired last yr because he went 9-8 and went 4-1 over the last 5 games

I heard Underhill say that he was getting fired regardless if we beat the Panthers straight from his own mouth.
