I don't need a top 5 pick QB, I'd be happy just to see the team draft a QB higher than the 3rrd round for the first time in forever. The highest regular draft (non supplemental draft) QB we've taken since Archie Manning was at pick 75 in the 3rd round for Garrett Grayson a decade ago. That is actually insane.

I know this is going far back, but they did also draft Dave Wilson with a first round pick in the supplemental draft. They also traded a first to Dallas for Steve Walsh.

Regardless, it's crazy that in the 58 year history of this franchise they have only used three first round picks on QBs and none since 1990 when they traded for Walsh. Most important position on the field and only 3 first round picks in 58 years.

Some of that goes to the personalities of the head coaches during those periods.

Four head coaches in a row whose background was either defense (Bum, Mora and Haslett) or simply being a meathead (Ditka). And even Payton, the best coach in team history by several country miles, would've had a free agent (Brees) or a trade (Romo, if Miami had stuck with Brees) as his QB going forward in 2006.

Since we hired Moore and subsequent events I'm starting to feel like we're finally going in the right direction. And my desire to see Mickey Loomis fired is beginning to subside, I think. We'll see how things play out though.

I'd love to get the point where we have our QB1 and draft/develop/trade QB2's for draft capital to build the roster.

i wouldn't be surprised if ML's pitch to KM was, you and Doug come coach the Saints, we'll cut Carr and start Ratter and win a handful of games then draft Nuss JR in 26. Before you think this is too much of a plan, I'd say, you can be well assured that KM is familiar with Nuss Jr, just hearing it from Nuss Sr for the last 2 years straight. Always being aware of his progress, . In other words, this is what the plan is, the more i think about it. That way, KM just has to wait one year to get "his franchise QB." Otherwise, he'd have to sit out a year anyway, waiting on the new coach hiring cycle to begin.

Saying it now, this coaching staff with a new infused youth movement will get us to the playoffs this year.

i like the moves so far, but holding off on that bold prediction until I see what decisions may be made with the medical and/or training personnel. this team has had unusual injury circumstances for several years running now. something is OFF. I want CKM to figure that out and make changes there also. If that happens, I'm optimistic as you are Ozzy!

I'm with you on that, but how many on here would?

I feel that you and those that agree with you are in a tiny minority. What tends to happen is we all may say that but when faced with it, everyone gripes and complains and absolutely trashes everything about the team, coaches and Loomis along with front office. And of course losing like that….makes for a very loooong year.

That's fair. I do think Staley probably came into this as the favorite because of his years of experience as a DC/play caller and his experience as a HC, but I do think Parker has a shot because both guys have about the same length of relationship with Moore. I also wonder if Moore, given that he's only 36 and got a HC job, might be more willing to roll the dice on a young unproven coach than older more experienced HCs?

If it were me and if all things being equal I go young because say things go bad you set it up for Staley to take over as interim HC since he has the experience. Never make it easy to fire yourself. Now if Staley got a bad rap because of his time with the Chargers and he really is a great coach then make that hire.
