I might actually be in an upper tax bracket if I didn't have so many mouths to feed. I'm still living paycheck-to-paycheck brother. Even with the pay raise that won't change anytime soon.So tell me,how does it feel to be in the upper tax bracket? You're probably like Super Steve.... pressed white collar shirts, fancy ties, italian shoes..steaks,seafood,fine wines and cheeses for lunch? You pencil pushers/keyboard pressers must have college degrees...
No way! I thought you were secure in one of those gubment jobs?Filed for unemployment yesterday. Got outsourced and downsized last Friday. I'm loving sitting around in my drawers all day.

I love my job. I'm a history professor at a state university.
I don't know if I'll be able to keep the position (one year appointment), but we'll see.
So. You hire on with the contractor and make more money doing less work. At least that's how I've seen it work in the past.A committee of beancounters determined that contracted network administration would be 40% cheaper than having a one-man in-house IT guy for a 20-computer network.
(Insert knowing laugh about how wrong they are HERE.)
Not fired, not terminated, no negative reflections on your job or abilities, we've simply eliminated your position...etc...etc...etc...
You have the #2 rated job in Money Magazine's Best Job Ranking. I've thought about going back to school to become a college professor. My wife's cousin's husband is a Professor at Loyola. He spent an entire evening extolling the virtues of the profession and that it would be a great career change for me. Who knows....maybe one day.
