Elon Musk makes $43 Billion offer for private buyout of Twitter (4 Viewers)

The reason why it isn't being addressed (in another thread) is that the majority of people in here don't really care because 'reasons'
223 pages of Elon Musk and Twitter/X being horrible and filled with white supremacists

Nothing about Facebook bowing to ideological pressure to censor/slander one side and promote the other...

Yeah no bias here

Facebook never occupied the same role Twitter did.

Facebook was originally a place to connect with friends and share pictures/posts. It then morphed into Boomers sharing conspiracy theories with other boomers. It was contained.

Because of that, it never held the status among celebrities and politicians and the journalist gadfly set that Twitter did. They wanted to blast their opinions to the world l. Twitter was for news makers and famous people holding online court. It occupied a much pronounced role in the political and social sphere than FB ever did, especially zombie FB which is a wasteland of AI nonsense and boomers posting stupid sheet.

That's the difference.

I am sporadically on face book (been on a lot lately, you can figure out why). But other than that, currently it's a place to keep up with my HS class and others that I don't live near anymore, "clip" recipes I like, see pictures of horsies and doggies (not elephants though. Don't see many of them), find out what's going on in town (like WHEN is the new Rouse's opening up finally?). I think it's what you make it.

I like very few people so I don't really have a need for it. Anyone I care to communicate with, I have their phone number and communicate that way.

The rest of that stuff I get from Twitter in what seems to me to be a rational time order. I can't figure out how Facebook organizes things.

Now, just so I know, are you using "boomers" pejoratively?

lol, they don't. I've "met" some really great people though I wouldn't have otherwise met both around the country and around the world in some of the very few groups I "joined". So that's what it is. Def. not a newsgathering place but, yes, an opinion gathering place.

X is KIND of a news gathering place for me occasionally but as a starting place, not an ending place.

IOW, when I want to go hang around other nazis, I go elsewhere.

Not as pejoratively as he uses Zoomers.
lol. Maybe a discussion for another thread, or maybe not worth a discussion at all, but why do we even have all these generation labels? And WHO does the naming?

Marketing.

Aside from the "baby boom," which was an observable sociological event in the post war period, all these other names are nonsense from ad people and the press. "We named one generation, so we have to name them all!" They also use the Baby Boom time range to define other generational cohorts, which makes no sense. Zoomers are like 97 to 2012. A kid born in 97 has a completely different experience than one born in 2012. Its all just branding.

That said, they do make good short hand pejoratives. Some better than others. We never came up with a good short hand to bash Millenials.and nobody cared enough about Gen X to ever bother.

are you denying Twitter doesn't have high white supremacists users that use it to speak on their platform?
it is the biggest reason why majority of big advertisers have pulled out of Twitter. Musk loves to put hate speech as free speech, but he doesn't think advertisers have the right to choose who they advertise with..
are you saying Musk doesn't have ANY biased since buying Twitter? we can go back and fourth, but you'll be arguing "but Facebook does it more" as some kind of excuse..
