Falcons hired Zac Robinson as OC (1 Viewer)

Thing that should have everybody worried is you have Mickey Loomis & Dennis Allen sitting in on Offensive Coordinator interviews when neither one of those clowns know anything about offense. How will they determine if any of these guys are a good fit? Telling sign is Loomis has requested interview with brian Johnson of Eagles who has always been around mobile QB's. Last time i checked Carr is not mobile. He done requested a 2nd interview with Jerrod Johnson who has one year experience as a QB coach with one year as an assistant QB coach.. Sounds way to inexperienced to make leap to O.C overnight.

Yeah, what would one of the best defensive coordinators in the NFL know about what makes an offense hard to stop. And what would the guy who hired Sean Payton know about identifying a great offensive mind.

We are so screwed.

It's gotta be one of the S.F assistance, only reason I can think of as to why we are being so quick to interview slow to hire.

Are you really citing a single Loomis hire from nearly two decades ago as evidence that he is good at identifying great offensive coaches? Come on now. Sure, he gets credit for the hire, but it’s not some sort of pattern of behavior that should be looked at as an indicator of future hiring. Hell, he immediately undid what little reputation he had built by hiring DA on the first place.

How is he different than any other GM in the league? Coaches get fired every season some during the season.

Loomis is not a miracle worker, he's an NFL GM

He's made two hires, one of them without even a serious search and wasn't good and one where he did well. It's not a pattern of success.

I had this thought the other night and then immediately was like, nah that’s dumb. But I’ll post it and let everyone chime in.

They had that dinner/meeting with Gruden and reports started showing up that he may work with the Saints. Some thought he would be OC or senior offensive whatever. For the record I hope not. But then the Saints said it was basically just a dinner with a friend and nothing more. What I’m thinking is, what if with Gruden’s connections around the league. The fact he watches a lot a film on teams offenses and QBs. And his football knowledge in general. What if the Saints used him as an outside consultant on which offense they should implement and which coaches they should target. They pitched it to him at that dinner and he spent several weeks preparing a list of offensive coaches they should target? I’m I dumb or does that kinda make sense?

Yeah, in another thread a similar poster made it clear that just because something happened once before doesn’t necessarily mean it will happen again, but in this instance, since Loomis did it once a long time ago, it’s a clear pattern showing he can do it again.

Lol.

Rules clearly state that you can drop one hammer but must make a second post before dropping a second hammer.

Stop making straw men to knock down. I didn't even claim that he was good at identifying great coaches.

I'm saying that he is 1 for 2 in identifying great coaches, you decide if that makes him good at it or not. I'm also saying the guy has been in NFL front offices for over 20 years so I think he probably knows more about offensive football, and football in general, than the combined knowledge of 99% of this board. That doesn't mean he will get it right. But claiming Loomis knows nothing about offensive football is ridiculous which was the claim made by the OP.

I said nothing of the sort. Stop making up bullshirt.

Makes you wonder if Robinson was holding out to see is Raheem got a HC job.

Just my opinion but I think the hint that the Saints are going to keep Jon Gruden involved in some fringe way is going to deter a top OC candidate. The idea Dennis Allen is going into the season on the hot seat is also going to deter a top OC candidate.
