Falcons TE coach Kevin Koger declines to interview for Saints OC position (8 Viewers)

Doesn’t make any sense! The Saints hired Kellen Moore, and according to this message board, he’s the best HC hire this cycle!!

What is going on here?!?!?

Why wouldn’t he want to work with this injury riddled OL, aging star RB, and injury prone and ridiculously thin WR corps? 🤷‍♂️
We will be ok. This season will be a temperature check to see if we have anything to build on. If we run the tables, cool...if not still cool. We just need to see promise. A 8-9 min or 10-7 season is a win if you ask me

See. See. They told us no one would want to coach here. Those guys really do know. There’s the proof right there.

You don’t even know who he is so why are you trolling about it?

Or maybe he prefers to go somewhere where he would be the play caller. And he wouldn't be with Moore.

Agree it’s speculation, although I would wonder why he would have animosity with a former TE coach. I checked to see if the Chargers interviewed Koger for their OC job in 2023, but they did not.

Koger interviewed for those other jobs, he might not want to go through the motions again when there’s a good likelihood that Moore brings someone from the Eagles.

It may also be because an OC job with a HC that calls plays is not a great way to get yourself in contention for HC jobs. i.e. Eric Bieniemy.

Multi Tool indeed.

It’s interesting since Koger was TE coach with the Chargers when Moore was OC. You would think that would up the odds he would be willing to work with Moore.
Or it didn’t go well and he said not again lol.

To me it’s probably because the position is in name only. 🤷‍♂️

I think it was more that he would be in name only but who knows? You certainly make valid points, the team is thin all over.

I’m still excited tho, most I’ve been since 21.

Is having an OC an NFL requirement? Especially if it’s known that the HC if coming from an offensive background, will call the offense like Moore stated.
It isn’t. One example, McVay had no OC in 2018 or 2019.

Edit to add that not hiring an OC would be a problem for Moore if he wants to hire Nussmeier. The Eagles can block interviews if he isn’t being interviewed for a coordinator position.
