It still burns my biscuits and probably always will.

It’s already been five years. And the underlying problem still hasn’t been fixed.

On January 20, 2019, the Saints hosted the Rams in the NFC Championship. The game was tied at 20, with 1:49 to play. The Saints faced third and 10 on the L.A. 13.

Just before the snap, Rams cornerback Nickell Robey-Coleman realized he was way out of position. He sprinted across the formation to get to his man, Saints receiver Tommylee Lewis, who was coming out of the backfield and wide open.

The ball arrived late, so late that Robey-Coleman potentially could have intercepted it. He also arrived early enough to hit Lewis before the ball arrived.

It was obviously pass interference. Obvious, that is, to everyone but the crew of officials responsible for calling and not calling penalties.

That, and two or three other postseasons… and Brees could be in the NFL GOAT conversation. **sigh**

:gosaints:

Sidebar: Tina, miss your RedJem moniker.
Pierre Thomas getting targeted by the 49ers, gets a concussion and fumbles on the 2 yard line . It was considered a legal hit back then. But it was a dirty intentional hit to cause a concussion and fumble. We would have won that game if that didn’t happen.

Sigh. It killed a part of my fandom, I’ll never get that back.

I think it truly affected every Saints fan. It doesn't hurt the same anymore. I guess that's not a bad thing given the current Saints situation.

I keep going back to the DB. He KNOWS he forked up. Dude looks around for 10 seconds before celebrating. It brings back ugly feelings, mane!!!

The NFL doesn't remove the ability for human error because human error makes money. A flawed product is ideal.

A former colleague was in the process of designing something and he was told by people that wanted to pick it up, that he needed to make a certain part on the design cheaper, so that it breaks and people have to get that part or purchase a new one.

Refs don't get paid a lot, and they won't make them full time.

Now you know why lol.

Same. I never really trusted sports being fairly called before, but this was the incident where I stopped ultimately caring wholeheartedly about officiating. We have seen our team get royally screwed, not the run of the mill missed calls. We get SCREWED with calls historically, but this was just not cool.

We are all aware of that. The real problem lies within the fact that The NFL is labeled as entertainment. Therefore, outcomes can be predetermined and there is nothing that consumers can do about it from a legal standpoint. We just have to take it up the you know what bc we are too invested to walk away. Expectations for the NFL being a good product as a whole (for me) is gone with that no call.

The no call was entertaining. So much so that we're still talking about it years later...because of the passion it generated.

100% agree on the last part! I have reffed many different sports, and looking at a player’s body language can often help one make the right call. These refs knew what happened and still didn’t give a %*£#$!
