I had a date Saturday night. I've been separated (divorced as soon as we work out healthcare and equity in the houses) for 3 years, and she is far and away the best. We have a lot in common, and she is a lovely lady

I may be in a similar situation soon. If you don't mind my asking, how long did you wait before dating? Clearly I can't put my life on hold while my spouse figures herself out, but we're also still married which makes it not seem right somehow.

Once someone moves out, as long as you're in agreement with your estranged spouse, you can date though you may wish to be careful if you have children and custody involved. We've been apart for 3 years and it was about 6 months before I dipped my toe in the dating pool. My ex and I agreed it was fine to see others, but if either became involved in a more serious relationship, to have a discussion with the other as this is a small town and people love to talk.

You also may want to check on state-specific laws regarding separation. Maryland does not recognize legal separation, and you must be apart for 6 months. Weirdly, you can live in the same house and be "separated" as long as you pursue separate lives, which pretty much sums up the last 5 years of my marriage

When Melissa and I went out Saturday, we each bumped into other folks we knew socially, so I may need to tell my ex. The others I dated weren't local.

At his early stage, I'm hoping this relationship has legs. I'm interested

BleuDaughter #2, when she was about 3 or 4, became very exasperated with her mother who had just admonished her for not getting her toys picked up. BD#2 drew herself up to her full height, placed her hands on her hips, stared at her mother and exclaimed,

"What do you think I am? S.P.L. stupid?!?"

We had to take a walk outside because we were stifling our reaction so hard that tears were streaming down our face at the humor of her trying to be indignant while attempting to spell "stupid" for whatever reason.

When he was about the same age, my son asked if could watch something on TV (forget what it was) and I said no, it's dinner time. He turns around, throws his arms in the air, walks into the couch and flops his torso on it exclaiming "My life is over!"

I had to go into the kitchen and laugh
