Ferrari had just enough top end speed to keep it interesting- I think Carlos did a great job. Red Bull and Max just too much. He might win out.

And yet again, the weekly battle between the next four constructors is wide open. The only thing that keeps it watchable. McLaren looked so good after upgrades before the break but that luster has gone.

McLaren's performance has been disappointing since the break. I thought they should have had the speed to compete at this fast track. Ferrari should have told Leclerc to "knock it off" in the closing laps considering their past mishaps, he could have easily turned a good day to a OMGZ :mad1: day!

That race for 3rd was really good. Kept thinking Ferrari was gonna do something stupid and knock each other out, but they kept it clean enough. They needed that podium on the home track, lol.

They did! Ha, they said “no risk” and then he locked up and almost plowed into Carlos’s gearbox. Carlos deserved that spot, glad he was able to keep it.

So after FP2 (the only session run at night - like the race is), the Red Bulls are not stable and both drivers unhappy - 7th and 8th on the chart. Might be setting up for a competitive race.

Tomorrow is gonna be awesome. It’s one thing for Max to come through the field with a top car that had to take a penalty - but what can Max do with it when the car isn’t on top 10 speed?

I think the Sainz/Russell battle should be great.

That was a great race. Sainz looked fantastic, but wow that battle for second between Norris and Russell was intense.

Norris is starting to come into his own as a driver.

This is going to be interesting - dominance by a single car or driver has always been bad for business in racing. On the heels of an explosion of US popularity, F1 had its most competitive season ever in 2021, with the championship coming down to the last few laps of the final race. Viewership and engament blew up. Then an equally unprecedented run of dominance from Red Bull began . . . letting a lot of air out of the balloon.

Will F1 continue its new effort to chase the dragon? One of the big design motivations on latest car was to improve passing. A new formula is coming soon. But F1 has historically not been about parity but about “may the best team win even if they win every race” - it’s not an easy shift to make.

In today's race, the role of Alpine will be played by Mercedes-Benz! :banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::cussing::cussing::cussing::cussing::cussing:

:idunno: Torpedoing any chance he had to move into P2 in the Drivers Championship. Russell did a great job of rallying to a P4 finish.

Toto Wolf missed the last 2 races, good money that he won't miss a third.

Did you hear him chiming in on the radio from London or Austria or wherever he is?
