Fox Sports' John Czarnecki: Brees overestimating his worth (3 Viewers)

No doubt that the chemistry built between Payton and Brees is why we are SB contenders every year. But I think the people who are throwing their arms up saying "Brees is the greatest to play the game" is ridiculous. And yes if you think about it, everybody is a product of a system. But It's not to say that it would have panned out elsewhere. Bottom line is Brees is a great QB with many attributes. But I think it's far fetched when people get their panties in a bunch when Brees isnt being crowned king of the NFL.

Who said he is king? Im saying he is an elite Qb. Where his ranked among other elites is subject to opinion.

But ur crazy if u dont think he is better at the QB position than Eli and Big Ben.

Eli is the luckiest little ***** of a QB if I've ever seen one. And Rothliseberger shouldn't be mentioned as an elite QB.

My point is that the writer is subject to his opinion and I like the fact that he's questioning the almighty Brees.

What makes you use such a vindictive description of Drew?

Drew never called himself almighty... he doesn't deserve that, IMHO.

Hes a great QB and deserves to get paid but its ridiculous how defensive everyone gets when Brees isnt having a 100 ft golden statue built in Canton.

Went back and re-read the thread. The general response is that the original article is weak and has poor conclusions from poor cherry picked stats. It focuses on Brees' stature or lack thereof to diminish his accomplishments. I'll stand by my claim that Brees would be elite in any system. Maybe not record-breaking, but elite nonetheless. That's my opinion.

And the "deification of Brees" comments are coming from you and your interpretation of the replies.

I never understood why his height is so held against him. Should that be even more reason to sing his praises. Usually America loves the underdog. The fact that Drew is the best QB in the league despite his stature should be a plus.

One thing I want to see this upcoming season....how will Peyton Manning fare in Denver? Does he has those quality WRs, and a Dallas Clark type TE?.....IT WILL BE SOO TELLING JUST HOW GOOD REALLY PEYTON MANNING IS....WAS HE A PRODUCT OF BEING SURROUNDED BY GREAT PLAYERS ON OFFENSE?

I don't want to hear the excuses....like he is new after an injury, and he is not where he wants to be...I don't want to hear any of that. If peyton Manning is as good as advertised, it will show...no doubt. If he isn't....that will most certainly show too!

Brees has shown he can play in Marty's ball-controlled offense and in a high-powered attack like we run in New Orleans. How soon John and other naysayers forget just how versatile Drew has PROVEN himself to be. Meanwhile, we can ONLY SPECULATE about what Big Ben, Aaron, and Eli might be able to do.

Drew Brees is the only elite QB with the mind of Drew Brees. That is why he is special and a top 3 QB. Peyton, Tom, and Eli are the only ones close. I personally feel the raw intelligence of a modern NFL QB are just as important as his physical gifts.

he like most people , measure a QB physically , when his mental make up are the most important

^^^^This. The numbers on Brees are not hype. This guy? Brees might be pushing it on the new contract, but it ain't hype.

Its the Virgil Carter argument .

An offensive coordinator installs a system that is tailored to a quarterbacks strengths and covers his weaknesses .

Is the quarterback great or is the system greater ???
