FA Free Agency is About to Start (1 Viewer)

I read somewhere a few weeks ago that Kubiak would probably run a Wide Zone and use a power run scheme. Don't know if that's going to be right once the offseason kicks off. I guess it depends on if we can get the right players to fit the scheme.

Based on PFF grades for Zone vs Gap, this is a list of the bigger/power RBs. The ones with power/speed combo would probably be most ideal. I only included guys who had a zone grade over 80.

Jonathan Brooks
Gap: 84.5
Zone: 90

Jaylen Wright
Gap: 85.0
Zone: 88.8

Audric Estime
Gap: 90.6
Zone: 90.6

Isaac Guerendo
Gap: 84.2
Zone: 86.9

Kimani Vidal
Gap: 91.8
Zone: 86.0

Cody Shrader
Gap: 83.2
Zone: 84.6

Isaiah Davis
Gap: 94.5
Zone: 91.1

Lots of defensive hitting the FA guess Kubiak has to be foaming at the mouth for the draft... hoping DA/Loomis grab some depth or starters through FA and let Kubiak run wild in the draft?

The Guard position is another position on the O-Line the Saints could upgrade, especially the LG position. Hurst is not the answer there and we don't know if Saldiveri can do it either. So here are some Free agent Guards that might be able to help.

Robert Hunt- RG, Dolphins (6'6"/330#) (Age- 27)
Calculated Market Value- 4-Year $47,391,852 Avg. Annual Salary- $11.8M Base Calculated Value- 2-Year $24.1M Avg. Annual Salary- $12,047,500.

Hunt is the highest rated Guard in free agency. Here are some veterans that will become free agents.

Dalton Risner- G, Vikings (6'5"/315#) (Age- 28)
Current Deal- 1-Year $3M Deal Expires next week. Was on the Saints offseason roster and PS last season. Could come cheap and be a backup.

Nick Allegretti- G, Chiefs (6'4"/315#) (Age-27)
Current Deal- 1-Year $2,582,500 Deal expires next week. Another player the Saints could take a look at.

Dan Feeny- G, Bears (6'4"/315#) (Age- 30)
Current Deal- 1Year $3.25M Deal Expires next week. At his age, he could be had for cheap. Could be a reliable backup.

Evan Brown- G, Seahawks (6'3"/320#) (Age- 27)
Current Deal- 1-Year $2.25M Deal Expires next week. Still relatively young, could be signed to a decent contract.

Billy Price- G/C, Free Agent, Was on Saints offseason roster and PS in 2023. Was a 1st round pick of the Bengals in 2018.

I don't know if any of them fit into Kubiaks new scheme, but I just threw these guys out there to show y'all what is on the free agent market. There are a lot of big names out there that I didn't put on here due to most of them are over 30 years old and we need to get younger on the O-Line.

I know I will catch some heat for this, but Williams is probably my least favorite player on the team right now. I just don't see anything in him. Lacks burst, lacks long range speed, lacks vision, goes down easily...just everything you don't want in a running back.

Hopefully with the new running game and run blocking scheme, he can improve, but what we saw last year from him was just downright pathetic.

...one of the worst stat lines I have ever seen from a NFL running back, and we basically had to cheat for him to get the one TD.
I don't think he's as bad as last yr but I don't think he's as good as his last yr in Det. And if we have to pay in 3.2 mil anyway we'll probably keep him and see

Underhill seems to think that the running game won't be that different in terms of they will run a lot of outside zone and power just like they did with PC. The difference will hopefully come from using motion to get angles on blocks and pull guys out of the box. The other change will be disguising what you are doing and making teams think you are going to pass when you run so you don't face as many heavy boxes when running the ball. But some of it will depend on play call sequencing and breaking tendencies like the tendency to run on 2nd and 10.

Although he also said that they may be looking to get Guards that have more quickness so they can block in space.

That, plus letting Murray walk killed our run game. We are still looking for the type of production him and younger MI gave us. Murray came in last season for 1 game, averaged 5.2 yards a carry and got a TD and then went to Denver..lol. And that was the moment that I pinpointed our issue the past few seasons. The O-line has been trash but Murray was so good for us when MI left.
Now that we have gotten rid of the REAL trash in Marrone even if we don't change anyone on the OL for them to play better. I'm very excited to see what Benton and Dennison can do with Saldiveri and Penning along with McCoy , Ram ( if his knee holds up) and Ruiz. I think we resign Peat for 1yr 5mil or 2yrs 10mil or close to that. The guy I want to be replaced is Hurst. Other than Penning ( and I've gone into great detail on TP) I think he was our worst O lineman. I'd like to sign either a new LT and kick AP back to LG or roll with AP @ LT and sign a new LG
With KK coming in I look for our run game to be totally revamped and much more productive, even with just the guys we have on the roster. I also look to use one of our 5's on a RB in the draft

Given that the Jags just signed a arguably mid-level Guard to a deal for over $9 million per year for 3 years, I think Peat's number is going to be more in the $10 million per year range for about 2 years.

No way Peat agrees to that if he’s signing to be our LT. I’m thinking 2 years $20m-$24m

Now we take a look at WR. That is a position the Saints are not in dire need of a WR, but they do need to add more depth there. Some on here have been talking about Tyler Boyd and some analysts have mentioned us being interested in Kendrick Bourne. Here are some numbers on some free agent WR's and some who would fit our offensive scheme.

Tyler Boyd- WR, Bengals (6'2"/203#) (Age- 29)
Calculated Market Value- 3-Year $26,148,336 Avg. Annual Salary- $8,716,112. Base Calculated Value- 3-Year $25,357,500 Avg. Annual Salary- $8,452,500.

Kendrick Bourne- WR, Patriots (6'1"/205#) (Age- 28)
Calculated Market Value- 3-Year $14,657,498 Avg. Annual Salary- $4,885,833. Base Calculated Value- 3-Year $14,192,001 Avg. Annual Salary- $4.7M.

K.J. Osborn- WR, Vikings (5'11"/203#) (Age- 27)
Calculated Market Value- 2-Year $15,130,070 Avg. Annual Salary- $7.5M Base Calculated Value- 2-Year $14.3M Avg. Annual Salary- $7,161,951

Jauan Jennings- WR, 49'ers (6'3"/212#) (Age- 26)
Current Contract- 1-Year $940,000.
Jennings is currently a (RFA) Restricted Free Agent. The Saints would have to top whatever the 49'ers tender Jennings to sign Jennings if they want to or Jennings could just sign his tender and remain with the 49'ers. Keep in mind that Jennings has a connection with Kubiak.

Keith Kirkwood- WR, Saints (6'3"/210#) (Age- 29)
Current Contract- 1-Year $1,010,000
Contract expires next week. Kirkwood will be 30 by the time the season starts.

I would really like to see the Saints go after Jennings, he's younger and gets open more often than Kirkwood, He's a better downfield blocker in the run game and he can go up and make the contested catch.

TE is a position the Saints need to upgrade, whether it be trough free agency or the draft, but we definitely need better play at that position. It took Johnson almost half the season to get going. I don't know whose fault that was, if it was Johnson's, the QB, or by design. Moreau hardly didn't get anything thrown his way. Here are some FA TE's that will be hitting the market in a few days.

Will Dissly- TE, Seahawks (6'4"/265#) (Age- 27)
Calculated Market Value- 2-Year $8,815,718 Avg. Annual Salary- $4.4M. Base Calculated Value- 2-Year $9M Avg. Annual Salary- $4.5M.

Colby Parkinson- TE, Seahawks (6'7"/251#) (Age- 25)
Calculated Market Value- 4-Year $26,717,148 Avg. Annual Salary- $6.6M. Base Calculated Value- 5-Year $29,513,720 Avg. Annual Salary- $5.9M.

Noah Fant- TE, Seahawks (6'4"/250#) (Age-26)
Calculated Market Value- 2-Year $12,570,302 Avg. Annual Salary- $6,285,151. Base Calculated Value- 5-Year $29,513,720 Avg. Annual Salary- $5,902,744.

Gerald Everett- TE, Chargers (6'3"/250#) (Age- 29)
Calculated Market Value- 2-Year $17,389,684 Avg. Annual Salary- $8,684,842. Base Calculated Value- 3-Year $26.6M Avg. Annual Salary- $8.8M.

Adam Trautman- TE, Broncos (6'5"/253#) (Age- 27)
Calculated Market Value- 3-Year $11,238,255 Avg. Annual Salary- $3.7M. Base Calculated Value- 3-Year $10.6M Avg. Annual Salary- $3.5M

Mike Gesicki- TE, Patriots (6'6"/250#) (Age- 28)
Current Contract- 1-Year $4.5M. Contract expires in 4 Days

Irv Smith- TE, Bengals (6'2"/240) (Age- 25)
Current Contract- 1-Year $1.75M. Contract expires in4 days.

Charlie Woerner- TE, 49'ers (6'5"/245#) (Age-26)
Current Contract- 4-Year $3,476,028. Contract expires in 4 days.

Ross Dwelley- TE, 49'ers (6'5"/240#) (Age- 29)
Current Contract- 1-Year $1.7M. Contract expires in 4 days.

As much as id love to think we’ll be going after the likes of DTs Leo Williams & Christian Wilkins, i doubt we’re willing to go big in FA, as usual. I dont think we’ll find answers at OT, EDGE or DT in FA, but there’s def guys w/starter potential at the positions. I think the answers at EDGE & OT will be in the draft.

FA wishlist:
EDGE Dorance Armstrong (Cowboys)
EDGE AJ Epenesa (Bills)
OT/LT Josh Jones (Texans)
OT/RT Jermaine Eleumunor (Raiders)
DT Sebastain Joseph-Day (49ers)
DT Javon Kinlaw (49ers)
